Bob wenzel

I usually like Bob but that type of matter of fact toss happens once a game. Throwing a ball at a player’s head... now that’s a whole another story. Thought Bob was dead wrong.

Usually Bob is pretty good, as many others have posted slightly slanted to RU to help show them some love & appreciation when others seem to slight or knock them.

Granted I am at home games so I do not hear those broadcasts, but for road games I always hope for a guy like Steven Bardo or even Crispin. Think they are both good at what they do & are objective.

Removing the Rutgers bias issue, he isn't a good color commentator. He's just annoying to listen to. I miss the BTN plus guys

Sorry but getting a ball bounced off your head in anger by an opponent totally demands a retaliation shove.

It is by no means an “over the top” reaction.

Obviously handing the ball to Washington wasn't just a friendly gesture of goodwill, but it was a cheeky mind game sort of thing, not a threat or anything that would warrant having the ball tossed at his head from 5 feet away. You see guys hand the ball to opponents all the time. The opponent usually acts like the ball is radioactive and everyone moves on. And I would absolutely go after someone who threw a ball at my head, but Mathis should have gotten in his face and started jawing rather than anything physical. Easy T on Washington (not that it mattered at that point) if he retaliates verbally.

We are Rutgers fans, we should be experts in the field of when it's appropriate to throw a basketball at someone's head and the appropriate response.

I looked at a dozen replays, and could not figure out what was wrong with that very soft flip. It did not deserve
getting hit in the back of the head by a coward.

Soft flip? Mathis shoved it in his gut, very violent and provoking of him per Bob "The Weasel" Wenzel

I watched the game and thought the same thing about Wentzel. It was almost like his was told to be critical of Rutgers to avoid any homer bias. I never felt this way about any of his other broadcasts. Something definitely changed for this game.

i understand that Wenzel does not want to show bias toward Rutgers. Yesterday, however, in his efforts to avoid doing so, I thought that we were playing Duke. He was impossible to listen to.
I fully agree and said the same thing and I always liked bob. He was very annoying and honestly sounded like a former Minnesota head coach and alumni. You hit the nail on the head.
