Bourdain was so depressing in NJ

I have read Bourdain's books and watched his show frequently both on CNN and the Travel Channel. The show was pure "parts unknown", but I have to say I could have done without the foam on the grey water at the end of the episode. that did NOT make AC or the Jersey shore look like someplace I'd ever want to visit.

I thought it was great. I'm sure I'm also not the only NJ resident who didn't know about the NJ style cheesesteak or even that there were restaurants in Camden worth visiting

He pumped up NJ repeatedly.

My only beef was the guy who says no one comes from NY to NJ for food or nightlife, go to Hoboken or JC on a Saturday nevermind the Shore in the summer.

Also is Hiram's better than Rutts?

I truly have no idea who Bourdain is and why anyone cares what he thinks about NJ. Because the thread did not have an OT, I thought we had lost an out of state recruit. Can Bourdain play QB?
I am with you Knight some nobody on some no name food channel needs a OT as jersey people get so upset when the real jersey is shown. Much to do about nothing except points out how fragile and sensitive jersey jerks can be. the length on this post was probably longer then the actual show. don't figure

I don't like his shows at all but was flipping through channels and saw this. Takes a lot for me to stop on CNN. Wish I hadn't after watching 20 minutes of that piss poor production.

Same here. Channel surfing and caught something about a marching band in Camden. Between this and Megyn Kelly's interview of the Duggars, who needs Sominex.

Finally got a chance to watch the whole show with my DVR recording. Yes, typical of Bourdain. He's not into conveying the pleasant aspects of a particular place but rather brings out the quality of its' true character concerning the culture and interesting stories of the local inhabitants. By doing that you get a different but interesting perspective that you would normally not think about. Great show and you could tell he was positive on NJ.

Except the show was on CNN on Sunday, in primetime. And not quite a no-name in the food and travel industry. Personally, I thought the show was great and in line with everything else he does. People have such thin skin about NJ. There's good and there's bad, just like everywhere else. And painting the bad in a good light is better than showing Camden/Paterson/Newark and heaping on the criticism.

I love Bourdain. His shows are truly awesome. He showed the good side of some shitty places that I probably would never have heard of let alone visit. I hope to male it to a few of the spots he highlighted in the near future.
