Bronco Mendenhall to UVA

Pretty good hire for them, but not someone who was on our radar which is good.

The possible landing spots are dwindling now. Just hope we can land a top target.

Good hire by UVa, but I'm not sure it's not a backwards move by him.

Who knows...that is what has made this search so maddening as a fan...maybe he was on our radar!

Nevertheless...at $3.25 million per year, seems decent value and if we could get someone of his caliber at that price, I'd be thrilled.

Well I'm sure that 3.25M is a salary bump and it is P5 vs G5 nonetheless. He's been there for 11 years and sometimes change of scenery is needed for 1 or both sides. See Mark Richt as well.

In one of the other threads, I was kind of wondering if maybe the waiting has to do with the champ games tomorrow. But the only coach there who would be worthy is Brent Venables. Women's soccer in NC and ACC champ game is in NC. He's been brought up here and I've brought him up myself a couple years ago but his name doesn't get a ton of play just like Aranda. He'd be right up next Aranda in my book if not for possible temper issues.

Cristobal is coaching tomorrow too, if you believe he's a legitimate candidate.

I think Venables is worthy of consideration. Interesting hire for UVA. Mendenhall might be tired of BYU's conference situation. Maybe Greg wants to interview in Provo.

All the names out there for UVA, Mendenhall wasn't one of them. So for Rutgers, USC and Syracuse, no one can say who these teams are locked on. What is certain is that Muschamp, Schiano and a bunch of other guys will still be available should Rutgers come knocking on the door.

As the CBS Sports report mentioned, Mendenhall did say he thought BYU needed to get into a P5 conference. No apparent movement there.

And I thought Rutgers was keeping its search close to the vest. This seemed to come out of nowhere.
