Even though two of three SL writers pick Wazzoo in lower scoring affairs, Three of four BTN writers pick RU in much higher scoring games. Midwestern bias? Or NJ media antipathy? Where's my wallet?

Little bit of both. BTN is a little bit of a homer station which is fine by me. NJ media hates Rutgers so any chance they have to pick against them they will.

I hope it ain't one of the Fresno St type of games where we lost trying a 2 pt conversion out west. Todays game will set the tone for the rest of our season...No win No respect.

The Washington St defense quit in the second half last week. I think Leach has lost that team.
RU 45
WSU 24

Local media SHOULD be homers.Express POSITIVE thoughts and bring fans to the program. That is what is done in most places.

I don't need homers, but to always look to twist things and turn to their possible worst is deplorable. And then they try to get scalps, largely because RU panicked in the past. Now I'd prefer RU get on the offensive but you can't do that given the leaks that always spring.

I get that in NJ/NY you eat your own, but we aren't the Jets or Knicks or Yankees or Mets. It's college. Save the tabloid approach for pros.

Even with a win, everyone will just point out that Wash St lost to Portland St.... No respect.

Just because it's done in most places doesn't mean it should be done. The media should never be "homers" or antagonists. The fourth estate is supposed to be impartial. Doesn't always work that way, sadly, but that is the perfect situation.

They're biased in politics and news in general. If they don't like it they don't report it or present it in a biased light. Why not sports?

What really puzzled me, though, is how quickly the "America is more brutal than ISIS" fiasco dropped out of sight.

It's the Big Ten Network and Rutgers is one of their own. They're going to give RU the benefit of the doubt. It's not like WSU is any good. As for the Star-Ledger, if Rutgers loses, that suits their RU is imploding storyline. But the truth is, this team is anything but imploding. I expect them to bring it today.

Washington St. only won 3 games last year and just lost to Portland St. They are one of the worst teams in all of college football. No one should either be surprised or proud that Rutgers is selected to win
