Build only up to 1062

i was surprised RU didn't cozy up to all the pharma companies. We should have a much closer relationship with JnJ and BMS
They're literally surrounded by pharm companies. It's a joke that their pharmacy program is tied with The University of Arkansas at #30 according to USNews. They should be a top 5 program.

Are donations fully tax deductible?

from the donation page: Gifts made through the foundation are deductible for federal income, gift, and estate tax purposes.

I am a Build Fund Captain. If you have not donated yet please tag me or send me a direct message and I can explain to you how to become a donor and be on my team. As a captain it is my job to find 25 people to contribute to the fund. As little as $10/month ($120/year) can make you a donor and get you on my team! Ask me how.

as of 6/29 only 1251 people have donated to the fund. :(

The old fans are the cheapest one's. The old alums for years were giving nothing which is why we have always been near the bottom in giving back to Rutgers. The old fans complain about rising ticket prices and hot dogs prices im no spring chicken graduated in 1999 but I think on a whole it's the newer grads and alums that are stepping up more. IMO
You better think your statement over chrisru99 ...I only speak for myself but know of other OLD fans who have and still donate each year...as far I can tell your early 40's maybe late 30's...better to let the people in charge make those determinations...just saying.

Anybody keeping a log of donors and total $ amount for each update? Would be cool to see how we are progressing.

This is a marathon not a sprint. I think Hobbs will get us there.

The goal is 10,000 donors which is about 2% of our approximately 500,000 alumni. We're not even close. Does anyone know if season ticket mandatory donation is going to the build fund?

where are all the excuse makers now--these numbers are BAD--too many "fans" sitting on their a$$ waiting for others

And some companies will match.

Give it up bro no one cares? Did the mods threaten you yet with banishment from the forum for hurting people's feelings about 1200 people giving out of 500 thousand living alumni. That's not counting all of the super duper hard core Rutgers fans of this site. Opinions and excuses and complaints and you guys want Hobbs to expand on the game day experience. Hope they have varsity players donation buckets at the stadium entrances collecting this fall.

How much did you give, big shot?

As been pointed out several times these gifts are great and those people deserve a world of credit but no school gets anything done with just hundreds or thousands of smaller donations. Look at any school in the B1G or Power 5 and you'll see 1, 2, or a number of donations in the tens of millions financing projects. Penn State's Arena (Pegula's $88 million donation) and the Athletic Complex at Northwestern where $70 million plus came from 5 individual donations are two fairly recent examples.

Far be it for me to say anyone should donate any amount but his project desperately needs 10 or more extremely generous people like the Browns, Towers, etc, along with those of us who donate what we can.
Pegula actually donated $102 million. $88 for the arena and $14 million for scholarship endowment for hockey.

BMS does have a program in place that they will match any donation given to RU from their employees and they have a lot of RU alumni who work for them. This is how we got all our priority points, so quick. They match every donation we give every year.

I challenged him to become a Build Fund captain and recruit 25 new donors and said I would be the first one to join his team and he didn't man up and accept the offer.

IMO he shouldn't be allowed to bitch about the topic anymore. His obsession is weird.

I will say that @S_Janowski DID step up after @chrisru99 failed to deliver as a team captain and he was the first to join my team.

On that note, there is still room to be on my team. Finding 25 people to join up is NOT an easy feat. It's a new fiscal year for priority points and Rutgers has made it VERY easy to donate for anyone at any price level. As little as $10/month for 5 years gets it done.

who else is willing to step up??

Ok, thanks. This makes my point even stronger. Few projects are done on the backs of "small" individual donors. It take someone or a number of people with F U money and the desire to spend it on college athletics. Rutgers has a few very generous donors but in reality they're not at the same level of RU's peers.

Good for you glad you donated every bit counts.

$1100 to the Build Fund is what I can give right now. Far from a big shot but Rutgers Football needs every dime it can get and I love Rutgers football
Thanks for your donation, and it is nice, but may I suggest you put a lid on it? Hardly the stuff of legends to be calling others out on this board. Yelling at and/or denigrating others hardly others gets people to rally around a cause. Actually, some go in the other direction and will not participate at all if they feel they are being bullied.

I did not yell at anyone actually I have been the one yelled at and insulted on this forum by many. I can care less of course what anyone says behind a keyboard. The fact is less than 1200 people have donated to the BIG fund I doubt any RU fans are not donating because some guy from New Providence keeps saying how small our donations are. Im not whining IMO but If you or others think I am that's ok too. I reiterate that I have not bullied anyone or insult anyone but 5000 members of this site and so little have given now that is weird have a great day.

Get your mega or powerball tickets. It's our only shot to hit the target.

I would say the numbers are quite encouraging. In just 6 months on the job Hobbs has been able to secure $30 mil. in donations and the $25 mil. in tax credits. That's record breaking donations already and the year's only half over. This all with losing basketball/ football seasons and the off field embarrassments in both the last few years. Years of talk about the largest subsidy in the nation. We just went through arguably the worst administrations ever in the AD's office over the last six years. IMO these two were worse than dear old Fred. He may have been incompetent, but the man didn't make himself a national embarrassment . I applaud all who gave after all that.

This is a marathon not a sprint. Funding has been secured for phase 1. Start building that and people will begin to see tangible results they can get behind. Your now showing them progress and giving them hope. Potential donors will start thinking maybe this isn't the same old Rutgers inspiring them to give. Shinny new things tend to have that effect on people. Up to this point people are giving on not much progress wise or success wise. Give them something they can get behind and they'll start donating more.

The average Rutgers alum has no clue about the Big ten build fund -

Colleges are a business , college athletics is a business . It's disgusting that these institutions, after squandering and mismanaging so much money over the years, can go out and beg working people for more money. What business just asks for handouts like that?
How about stop hiring and firing coaches who we have to pay buyouts to? How about running a more efficient department ? We have wasted millions and millions of unnecessary dollars, maybe the folks here in nj are just wise to the game and won't just fork over cash to a never satisfied money pit. We already have a pretty expensive life of our own to pay for around here

@MrsScrew - thanks for your effort. My wife and I jumped in day one but we would be glad to join your team. I've had too much to drink this 4th of July nite but if you hit me up after the 12th when I'm home from vacation we will step up again. Thanks.
