We need to pick up one of these difference making starting QBs who enter the transfer portal if we want to get out the basement of our division next year.
How do you know he is desperate to go back to Nevada, might end up playing in the Mountain West? Not saying he is the answer, but let's see who Schiano picks as the next OC, I am sure he will bring in a kid to challenge for the starting job.
He had is best career game in our stadium. Maybe there were other factors at play, but lets not focus on negatives

Immediate playing time in the B1G. The path to 6-8 wins and a bowl appearance is there with just an average offense.
He’ll get immediate playing time wherever he goes.
Greg’s not going to flat out hand another guy than Gavin the job. Huge likelihood Gavin transfers out in that event.
I think some of our fans need to tamper expectations as to the transfers we might get…. Every team in the country, including the big boys, are now vying for transfers. Think of it like recruiting, McNamara would be the equivalent of a 5* recruit. He’s an immediate starter for any one of about 20 P5 schools. I’ll ask again, why would a guy like that come to rurgers when we have no OC, no receivers, no TE and a below average line? Everyone keeps talking like there’s going to be this plethora of talent in the portal to choose from, it’s simply not the case for places like us
Are you saying Gleeson gets most of the responsibility for our offense that is unable to move the chains and score points?
I’m not saying we couldn’t use him, my question was why would he come here? Seriously, why would any offensive player come to Rutgers right now to play for Greg schiano?
I posted Feldman’s tweet about it in the portal thread and he mentioned Iowa which surprised me. Why would any offensive player go there too but there you go lol.
I agree…. Though kinda like us there’s an appeal for a RB to go there but ironically of course the one position offensively we might be able to sell transfers on is the one position we really don’t need any help next year, lol.
Though I’m not going to commit a Ryan Dunleavy and say our RB room is too crowded if another Saquon wanted to come… lol
If Ferentz moves his kid out of the OC spot and brings in a fairly competent one, Iowa might become a destination QBs look favorable on because t is a good team defensively that needed a good OC to make it's offense run smoothly.
Iowa's running game wasn't all that bad with Kaleb Johnson, but a putrid passing game made it easier for the Hawkeye opponents to key on stopping the run and make Iowa try to beat them in the air.
I think a better OC is all that Iowa needs and portal QBs would look more to Iowa if Kirk's kid is dumped as OC.
Rutgers could be a destination as well with the right OC, but for next year that's doubtful no matter who gets the job.
Gavin is entrenched as the starter and portal players know it.
Those willing to fight for second will be about the only ones that look RU's way for the 2023 season

Rules? There are no rules, at least ones that can be enforced. For many it is simply follow the money.

None of the teams in the hunt for the playoffs need a QB. Seems to me playing time with a P5 school would be key.
First you don't know what each teams needs next year. 2nd he was the starting QB on the Big Ten Champion last year but you think he wants to go to Rutgers???
If Wimsatt hit the transfer portal tomorrow tell me which P5 programs would make him their starting QB? Yes, Schiano is loyal to Wimsatt, but Schiano also knows that Wimsatt is a project at QB that may or may not work out. Schiano is also a very competitive individual and absolutely hates being viewed as a losing coach and B1G bottom feeder, the next OC will have the power to bring in a kid from the transfer portal to compete with Wimsatt, bank on it.
Yes but got beat out. It is a long drop down to Rutgers. Plenty of winning programs will be after him.
Last I checked he was starting for SC. Think McNamara would be in the portal if he was starting.

News out of Columbia: South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler will be entering the Transfer Portal. Rattler is believed to be headed to Nebraska with former OC Marcus Satterfield who just joined Matt Ruhle’s staff.
Not most. But he was culpable.
Every defensive scheme has areas you can exploit. Key is having team able to identify the weakness & have players get to that space.
Every year I see plenty of lesser talented teams move the ball, score and stay competitive with better teams.
The fact after 3 years we can't score at all or be competitive is an indictment against him and his staff.
He was responsible for recruiting offense and getting his players in position to succeed. I did not see those things in year 3.
Would think he would go to a team that values offense…or at least has one.

If we found someone to commit who could competently run any offensive scheme for us, he'd be a fool for not bringing him in.
We have an offense, they do a perfect job setting up our All American kicker and NCAA record holder, Adam Korsak.
NYC for life after football? Anyhoo, need an OC that will bring identity to what should be called an offense and give an impression we have OL that can block.
In most years, Iowa has competent-to-good offensive lines that actually block people. They also seem to understand that a TE is a blocker and a pass catcher rather than a bad single wing 1920s tailback.
