It's clear Sanders is at least considering coming back for his final year on the banks.

When the season ended I was pretty confident that he would be back. He wants the NBA and imo his best chance is playing one more season in Pikells program.

Over the next few weeks Sanders is going to be thinking about this decision a lot. He's been posting Rutgers related things since the tourney ended. I urge everyone (except @Greene Rice FIG) to show him love on social media and tell him how much you appreciate him, want him back, what next year might look like.

I'm not one to promote interacting with athletes on social media (especially high schoolers) but Sanders is one of our own and showing him some love might have a real impact.

Sanders isn't perfect and has some flaws both on and off the court (needs to work on his outside shot, left hand, making flights from FLA to NJ etc.). With that said this kid has given it his all for 3 years. He started off playing on one of the worst D1 programs under Jordan and bought into Pike's program. The W/L record hasn't been pretty but Pike is building this team piece by piece and anyone that has followed this team can sense that we're on the upward trajectory.

This program will be fine with or without Sanders next year. One could argue how many extra wins he would mean or if we had a chance at making an NIT/tourney run.

Not the point of this thread as it really doesn't matter.

1 more year with Corey could really make next year fun and continue the momentum build and ramp up the national spotlight on the program. Just look at the attention and buzz a 3 day run created at MSG....we were 3-15 during the season! The spotlight is great for student/fan support as well as recruiting and there's no question Sanders would deliver in this regard.

Please Corey !! Spend your last year at Rutgers making history! It will be so fun !! We love you dude

We could also show the love here in this thread and then try and deliver a link/print out of everyone's comments to him through a DM.

Would have to make sure everyone's comments are strictly on topic and the thread doesn't get derailed.

While from a fan perspective it would be nice to see him back, he has a family to support. I hope he makes the choice that is best for him and his daughter.

Would be great to see him back next year. I watched Indiana game at home in disbelief with that comeback. Made sure I got to MSG with my youngest son to see Purdue game in some tough weather. Worth it! Team was great and Corey was great. People in my section were going nuts about our shooting and started cheering on RU! Magical.
With that said, I am aware he has to do what is right for his family and career-not sure what that is.
I was impressed with effort of entire team at the tournament. Tough to see how disappointed they were walking off the court. I wish Corey Sanders the best no matter what his choice is. Go RU!

Corey definitely has tough decision to make. I think if he stays at RU and gets the excellent coaching that exists here, and plays with a better supporting cast, he may well make the draft after next season. I think it may well be a much better choice for him in the long run, but man, tough call for the young man. Wish him all the best.

What's good for his family is for him to stay.

I love Corey. He's a warrior. And taking Rutgers to the postseason will be an life accomplishment that we all will remember forever and he can carry the rest of his life. Life is the thing that happens every day while you are making other plans. Cory has something huge right in front of him that he can seize right now. And the NBA and Eurpoe will still be there.

Get back to the NCAA and he will be considered a legend ... the player that caused the turnaround with Pike and ended the drought ... not many chances in life to make this type of accomplishment.

So what's the best-case scenario? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I really think we can be a team that scores 72 ppg. next season if Corey returns. We averaged 66 this year

I think 72 ppg gives us a shot to dance

Corey got 15 ppg in 33 minutes. I really think he can get 17 ppg in 32 minutes

Geo can get his 10 much more efficient in a few less minutes at 28 mpg

Really think that if Strickland is here and kiss at the back up two...in those 20 mpg...we can get 7 ppg between the two of them

That’s 34 ppg in 80 minutes

Think Eugene can take his 8 ppg in 22 minutes and translate that to 10 ppg in 27 mpg next year with more minutes at same efficiency st this year...could be more

Think carter can be a 8 ppg scores in his 27 mpg

Think between doucoure, Doorson, and Johnson backing them up in the available 26 mpg, they can get 6 ppg ...

That’s 24 ppg at the front court

Think between Mathis, thiam, Harper and maybe a few minutes from kiss...we get those 14 ppg at the three spot. I’m betting on 9 -10 ppg from Mathis in 27 mpg and the other three to fill in the rest

That’s your 72 ppg

If you subtract Corey’s 17 ppg in 32 minutes, I don’t see anyone getting more than 10-11 in place ...and We are back to 66 ppg

So...Corey playing to his capability, I see with 6 ppg a game ...and the difference between a slight below .500 record again and a team that has NIT written on it, challenging for a NCAA bubble bid if everyone stays healthy and win more close games than we probably should with our talent

Something tells me Sanders is gone.

Just by looking at social media, and what his friends are saying. Well see.

Too much drama every year. We should just assume he’s gone and if we get a pleasant surprise, so be it.

Corey's opportunity to get drafted by the NBA STARTED with his epic Big Ten Tournament performance. He was told the past 2 seasons that he wasn't ready. The NBA scouts will have all eyes on him if he comes back for another year. I f he can build on that performance with some more dominating BIG games and more consistency throughout the season he can be a first round draft pick. If he goes G league or Europe the NBA dream is dead. IMHO Corey is not ready to quit on the NBA dream. The road to the NBA is through New Brunswick.

He seems to thrive on being in the spotlight at RU. Not sure what spotlight he will be under next year, but it will be different. Hope he stays and graduates. $$$$

Bottom line. CS has grown as a person and a player every year. He has given 100% to do this, and we should be happy for him and thank him, no matter what he chooses to do.

We would all love to see him come back. We are a much better team with him, and he is an elite college player.

NBA ready? - He still is a one way player (right), but he showed his handles and ability as a scorer in the BIG Tourney. His stock is much higher right now, and as much as I would love to say another year, and he will be better and can work on other aspects of his game, that would just be selfish, because bottom line if he has a chance, and this is his dream....hard to argue?
