while I still think next year is the year we go dancing, let’s just have fun and think about this year. You could argue that with our drought (and the story it brings) that a 20-win RU gets an at-large. So, if that’s the case where do we find 10 more? Let’s assume we don’t suffer a letdown and take care of business against Stony Brook and grab one win in the B1G tourney. Where do we grab 8 more?

Don't forget Hartford at home after Christmas. I think we can take Wisconsin at home in January. We would need 6 more wins if you include SB and a B1G tourney win.

I know this is for entertainment purposes only, but we will need more than 20 wins. We probably need 20 before the B1G tournament and two when we get there.

Assuming we beat SB and Hartford, and get one win in the B1G tourney, then we'd need 7 of 8 remaining home league games or a B1G road win to go with 6 of 8 at home.

Doable.

Twenty will definitely get is in. Playing in the B1G and SHU already in the belt to get to 20 we would end up with at least 6 or 7 wins against top 50. Not enough for NCAA's but certainly enough to get into the NIT.

I think OP was talking big dance not NIT.

To even sniff 10 wins RU has to sweep Illinois and Nebraska. Just watched 10 minutes of the Illini game vs NM St. Unless they're having a WTF half, they're not that great.

Well right now we have 1 good win and 0 bad losses .. 3 but all to ranked teams, and 2 of them really close .. in that regard, we are a tourney team until proven otherwise (i.e. lose to an unranked B1G team)

Heres the road map to being a serious bubble team. If we could finish the season like this, the big ten tourney would legitimately have ncaa tourney implications.

While this isnt impossible, its pretty unlikely.

Committee would wanna see some road wins and wins vs quality opponents.

@Purdue. L
Wisconsin W
@mich st L
Ohio st W
Iowa W
@michigan W
Nebraska W
@penn state L
@illinois W
Purdue L
Indiana W
@nebraska L
Northwestern W
@maryland W
@ohio state L
Illinois W

So we'd have to finish something like this to have a shot at the tourney. Not impossible per say but also not likely

With OOC schedule we probably need 23-24 wins. I don't think 20 even gets us the NIT.
No power six team has ever finished with 24 wins and not gotten an at-large bid. That being said, CCNY game really makes this dream a whole lot harder. If we take the next two from Hartford and Stony Brook, we would have 11 D1 wins and no bad losses. I think if we went the rest of the big 10 conference schedule 11-5, we would get in.

Wins @Mich, @Neb and @MD??? I’d take one out of those three to be realistic...

I said L @nebraska. Anyway, again this would be what it takes, not saying its likely to happen, just what it would take

Just nice to have a legitimate discussion about this though. If we can get 20 wins and at least one more against a quality opponent we will play post season. Maybe not the NCAA but we will play.

I think the NCAA talk is legitimate. This team could do it.

But I see us with 18 or 19 wins and going to the NITs

I will be filled with joy even with the NITs...

MSU is a tough win, and away games are harder to win, but the B1G is down this year. Wisky isn't dominant, tOSU isn't, UM isn't, Illinois isn't good, Nebraska is down, Iowa is bad so far this year, PSU has made strides but are beatable if we play as well as we did today. IU might pull it together, but they are not dominant, either. Maryland is alway competitive. Northwestern can be tough.

Depending on how well we remain focused I can see 8-10 more wins because our next two are Stony Brook and Hartford. We should get those two then need six from the rest. If we get eight from the rest we'll make the NIT, but the NCAA will be unlikely with 20 wins against that schedule.

Anything is possible but we must just take one game at a time.

this is my take too, way too early to speculate because until we show we can knock off Big 10 teams night in and out. No matter how big this win was, league play brings a whole slew of new variables. RU hasnt even ever won consecutive league games yet I think so I think we need to slow things down a bit on expectations....this team has to give max effort and still has a small margin of error....one game at a time please

As I said a while back

We need to be 13-5 as the next intermediate goal

Then the next five is our chance to make hay or not

I believe we can do it, but I want to see us finish above .500 before we talk about dancing. Can we get to 5-6 B1G victories before the tournament? Tough to win on the road in the conference regardless of who you are and there IS always a WTF game to be played by all teams. We'll lose one for sure and hopefully we'll also win one to balance it out.

To quote Winston Wolf....... "Let's not start suckin each other's d'cks just yet"

This was a great win and a program builder, but this team hasn't been tested enough to even optimistically suggest we can go 11-5 from here on out. We have a long way to go. Revisit if we go 5-2 with competitive losses @Purdue and @MSU over the next 7

I am sirprised I only see a refence to CCNY once in this thread. 20 wins will only he 19 against D1.
