As a strong supporter of RU woman's soccer, who has been to almost every home game over the last few years, & who has watched almost every broadcast of the women's national team over the past several years, you can be sure that I knew her name was spelled Carli. Simply a mind cramp in haste. That post was critical in nature without speaking to the subject matter. Incidentally, the use of both "properly" & "correctly" in the above sentence represents a redundancy.

The women generated more revenue this past year.
The women also generate a lot more pride which you can't put a value on. They beat everyone, and the men seem to lose frequently.
This is not Brazil, Argentina, Germany...men's soccer is certainly more popular abroad but I am not sure about in the US, and aside from Canada no other country seems to take it very seriously.
This is not the WNBA where this a huge revenue gap or even close to that, nor are we dealing with franchises, but the national team meant to represent 300 million of us.
When the women win more and generated more last year I am not sure what message we are sending American girls besides, you count less. And I know some agree but most Americans do not and something should be done.

Did you not read my post above? Those are the facts. They almost do get the same pay. They chose a different structure and don't like it. The world cup payouts have nothing to do with the US Federation. And over a four year cycle rating and revenues are heavily in favor of the men. The women will not win this case.
The message being sent is that equality cuts both ways. If you are a woman, and you earn less revenue for your company than a man, then you get less money, and rightly so. You don't want equality. You want special treatment for women.
I have a daughter and I actually think this lawsuit sets women back. Quote from the Washington Post

See, this is the problem. You twisted around my words, and you make assumptions about what I think, without knowing whether or not they are true. You sound a lot like Trump to me.
First off, I was responding to the poster who asked what message it was sending little girls that the women's team makes less money. Well, it's sending them the proper message that merit is rewarded. The men generate more revenue for US soccer, so they get paid more. If women generated more money, then they should get paid more than men. I have no problem with that. I also did not deny that women get less pay in some instances. Yes, sometimes it happens. I did not address that in my previous post. You just put words in my mouth, which is typical of self righteous politically correct people. Women are not always automatically correct simply because they are women. They can be wrong sometimes. This is one instance where they are wrong. The women's team simply doesn't generate as much revenue as the men, so they don't get as much money. There is nothing wrong with that. You can't bring other instances where women are treated unfairly, and try to apply it to this situation. That's simply wrong. When discrimination does exist, it's perfectly legitimate to criticize and correct it. However, it is not at all acceptable to bring in accusations of discrimination to a situation where it doesn't exist. Two wrongs don't make a right. You PC people don't understand that.
Yep. That's my criticism as well. It's called having your cake and eating it too. If you want true equality, you have to accept it when it works against you, not just when it works for you.
Really?? How about a teachers starting salary if a man and woman both had a college degree and the same credentials and taught the same subject, but the man's salary was higher. That would be very wrong. You could pretty much use that example with any job.
Women's and Men's soccer are two different jobs with different competitions, generating different revenues with union negotiated contracts. If the women think they are under paid then they should negotiate for what they feel is right. And maybe they are underpaid although the research I have done says they are not, but it has nothing to do with the mens game. They should argue and negotiate based on their numbers alone and get what they feel is right or they can strike as is their right same as the men.
But they don't earn less. This past year they earned more.
They also won A LOT more. And America- and I know your side of the aisle has really been fighting this one hard- is not a corporation, but a country. But no matter how you slice it, their performance was better AND they earned more for the soccer federation.
Of course outside of soccer women early 77 cents for every dollar a man makes, but I guess every last one of them "earns less revenue", particularly the ones who do not work in sales.

That's a stupid comment. So it's wrong to say that neither sex should have a double standard? Sorry, right is right, and wrong is wrong. If you want equality, you have to have equality all the time. You can't argue for equality when it benefits women, but then argue for special treatment when it doesn't benefit women. That's just as hypocritical as men getting paid more for the same job. If you believe in true equality, then you should agree that neither sex gets special treatment.
Yes, they earn less. This is exactly what I'm talking about. You cherrypicked one year. This is the first time the women have earned more than the men. Over the complete four-year WC cycle, the men will earn more than the women.

If there weren't deep seated discrimination against women athletes, and I see it here all the time, then the women would be generating as much revenue as the men. Do they work as hard as the men, play as hard as the men, produce successful results as often (or even more) than the men? I say yes and therefore they deserve equal pay. It will take years, but I truly believe there will come a day when female athletes are appreciated just as much as the men - the gap is slowly closing.
Because the women don't bring in more. You are simply incorrect when you say that. The contracts that pay the players are not based on a single year. They are based on a full four-year World Cup cycle. The men make a lot more money over the course of the contract than the women.
It's not deep seeded discrimination. The women don't generate as much revenue because people like YOU don't watch their games.
One more post and then I am done. The women and men have different pay structures that were negotiated by each respective group. The men went with a plan where they get paid NOTHING if they lose a game, but more if they win. The women went with a safer plan that gave them more guaranteed money, but less if they win. They also get paid if they are hurt where the men don't. So it is VERY difficult to tell who is getting paid more. The world cup payouts have nothing to do with the US Federation so they can't be included because there is nothing that can be done about that.
I have watched more woman's games in the World Cup than the men, simply because the woman keep winning and the men struggle against Guatemala just to qualify.

First point, I wasn't even talking to you. I was responding to a different poster. Second point, my comment was not about the USWNT. My comment was about women's sports in general. How many WNBA games do you watch? How many NWSL games do you watch? How many NCAA women's regular season basketball games do you watch? How many women's track and field events do you watch? How many LPGA events do you watch?
Now, how many NFL games do you watch? How many college football games do you watch? How many Rutgers football games do you watch? How many NBA games do you watch? How many men's college basketball games do you watch? How many MLB games do you watch? How many BPL matches do you watch. How many PGA tournaments do you watch?
See my point? People like to get on their high horse about women's sports, but they don't support them over the long haul. When people who complain about this start watching women's sports as much as they watch men's sports, then they might have a little credibility.
Actually it tells them that they'll have to deal with sexism all their lives. The US women are the better team by every single measure yet they can expect to make less money because the world doesn't view women's sports in the same way it views men's sports.
As much as I value your opinion (not really much at all, as should be clear by now), why don't you go ahead and wait until the case plays out before declaring anyone "wrong." Seems like the general consensus is that there's a lot of missing information.
You and Cali keep bringing up all woman sports in general to support your diluted aguement because you can't stay on topic on why the Woman's National Soccer Team is getting paid less when they are more successful and get paid less than the men. The topic isn't woman's sports vs men's sports but the US Team making less and winning more

And BTW you are right I watch almost zero woman's basketball but no less than the men. Not my sport
In general, the women put out an inferior product on the field or on the court. That's why far less people watch their games and events. It's all about entertainment If a U 17 men's team can beat the women's national team 8 to 2, the level of the women's play is inferior to the men's. Also, ever try to watch a WNBA game or a woman's college basketball game? I can't watch more than five minutes of the woman's game. Ever watch a men's soccer premier league game? These games are head and shoulders above any comparable women's game. Again, it's all about entertainment value.
False equivalency. I'm not arguing on behalf of the WNBA athletes, and FIFA doesn't sign the checks of the USWNT players. The argument you're trying to make isn't relevant to the women's complaint.
Well, the "world" is made up of women as well. Why don't other women watch these sports? How many women went to Villanova men's games, and how many went to Villanova women's games? How many women went to LA Clippers games, and how many went to LA Sparks games? How many women went to Portland Timbers games, and how many women went to Portland Thorns games? Are women sexist because they go to more men's sporting events than women's.
Regarding your last point, you don't have any say over what I post or when I post. Why don't you tell the other posters to wait until the case is over until saying the USSF is "wrong?" It works both ways. That said, I can say the women are wrong because the numbers don't back up what they say, and I'm not the only person to point that out.
Soccer is boring regardless of who is playing, but the following should be what happens:
Male players get X% of the revenue their team produces
and
Female players get the same X% of the revenue their team produces
The only difference is how much revenue there is to split up. Fair and simple.
True for some sports, not for others. We've spent multiple threads talking about how US women's soccer is superior to men's. I'd say the same has long been true of women's volleyball. I'm not a huge tennis fan, but I enjoy either men's or women's and am more interested in the players themselves, not their gender.
I think that you're right for sports that are reliant upon strength or freakish athleticism (football, basketball, boxing/fighting) or have the advantage of long-established professional leagues (MLB, Premier League, etc.). In sports that are more dependent upon fitness and skill and have a history of both male and female comp, I think the product is about equal and more dependent upon the teams/athletes/personalities involved at any given time.
And my point was there is inherent sexism and the playing field isn't level at all. People think women's sports are "inferior" because they're played by women. You just proved the point - WTF cares if the men's U17 can beat the women. They don't play each other. Should we all stop watching CFB because the Patriots can beat any college team by four TDs? No? I guess that argument only makes sense when it's women under questioning. Women's sports can be plenty compelling on their own when you stop rationalizing your own small mindedness.
Ironically, you sound just like a woman saying that (and it's not the first time).
