Carroo to Miami

Or he could be one of the first in South Florida to get the new Royal Royce SUV.

Al said the IRS takes 40% for the sake of simplicity, but his bonus tax rate would be at least 41.95% (total, not marginal). And that's assuming he moves immediately to FL, so his salary isn't taxed here.

Knight Shift, I'm including an additional $20.6k and $42.2k in payroll and state taxes, respectively.

There's no state income tax in Florida.

Carroo was predicted 4th-5th round. And by his NFL scout grade, he seems to have leaped over these 3 guys to go as 9th WR.. ACC and SEC.

Peake, Charone WR 6'2" 209 Clemson 5.8
Cooper, Pharoh WR 5'11" 203 South Carolina 5.6
Mitchell, Malcolm WR 6'0" 198 Georgia 5.5

Carroo was one of 12 guys all rated 5.4.. so he leaped over those other 11 as well.

Great job Leonte. Everything you did after getting graded out helped you earn more $$$. Enjoy Miami.. but not too much.

No, Carroo was not projected 4-5th round. Only that rag, Walter Football, had him rated that low. They are the worst draft analysts by far. Just cut and paste outdated info stolen from other sites.

As I posted yesterday, Carroo was rated as high as the #2 WR using advanced metrics based on his productivity. Only his perceived off-field issues dropped him to 2-3rd round projection on almost every draft service. Miami traded 3 draft picks to move back into the 3rd to take him, which indicates he slipped in the draft from where he was expected to go.

The things Hack struggled with as a freshman, accuracy, touch, and footwork, didn't seem to improve much at his time at PSU. Whether that was coaching, a porous OL, a bad fit for the O we were trying to run, or a deficiency with Hack's game was hard to tell. Hence my reasoning behind Dallas being a good landing spot. Dallas OL might be the best in the NFL, zeke, and being able to sit 2ish years would have allowed him to reboot his game and put him in the best position to succeed. I fear the J-E-T-S will need him sooner than later and likely before he's ready.

Hey thanks for taking a Hackenburg shit in a Carroo draft thread.

Florida also has an amazing number of hotel rooms that get charged various taxes. Thus, tourists pay for much in the State.

I'm pretty sure everyone understands this.

I'm also pretty sure that everyone understands that proper tax planning gets that number back a lot closer to $693k than "40 % off".

And for the record, if you employer withheld 40% of your bonus, that's on you. Companies will withhold whatever you tell them to withhold.

In order to have his employer with-hold less, he'd have to provide adjustments/deductions, which he isn't likely to have right after college.

Not true.

Most employers (actually most payroll departments, including those for hire) will withhold large bonuses at the standard withholding rate, i.e. as if you make that much money every pay period. Since this will invariably end with the employee being over-withheld, all payroll operations are responsive to a simple note / email / letter which outlines specific withholding instructions for bonuses.

1. As pointed out already, no state tax in Florida.
2. Social Security taxable wage base is $118,500 for 2016. No withholding above that threshold.
3. NFL players get 16 game checks, it's common for them to claim extra exemptions to even out the withholding.

You're right, what was I thinking. Responding to someone's comment and having actual football conversation.

Regardless, I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
Go talk to your PeddState friends. We're trying to discuss a Rutgers kid getting drafted.
