Christie....show some NJ pride. U of Delaware fleece?

Chris ash works for Rutgers, and OSU is a competitor. CC does not work for Rutgers, nor is his job to represent Rutgers like Ash, so this is the most apples to oranges comparison ever... But please, keep getting butthurt over the dumbest stuff
I never said he should've been wearing Rutgers gear...Christie doesn't work for Rutgers but he does work for New Jersey, just saying.

does nobody on his staff tell him it might be a good idea to pretend to like NJ and RU the day he declares a state of emergency?
Maybe that's the only thing that fits that fat $hit.

New Hampshire folks can tell you how much he has done for Jersey....he has been there for months, lol

ddsmugs, your sneakers post/pic is classic. Whether one is pro or anti Christie it is just great. Only one thing....are we sure these aren't Bozo Barchi's sneakers? Thanks for a good laugh on a snowy day.

Doggonit, forget about the Delaware and Rutgers gear argument .
Christie should have worn this:

If PA had a governor who was a Rutgers grad and wore a PSU or Temple jacket, people would be losing their minds here. Who cares.
But, if PA had a governor who was an RU grad and was wearing a Temple or Penn St. jacket I would not be surprised.

Man. Is this really a topic?? Who f-ing cares?

Would you feel better if he wore a Princeton, Rider, Kean....jacket? Or did it have to be Rutgers?

Who wants him representing RU anyway?

Nobody asked for him to wear a college jacket. But why did he wear a UD? Just wear a plain jacket or UNH since that's where he wants to be.

If he represented anything in Jersey it would've been received better...but you make a good point, who wants him repping NJ anyway?

So? He's a UD alum not a Rutgers alum.

Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer.

And please tell me what's wrong with it. He a proud alum of his college, aren't you guys proud of your school?
Then he should've run for Governor of Delaware, lol

Personally if I was governor of NJ I would wear a NJ jacket (or any other plain ski or overcoat). Even as a Rutgers grad, I would not wear Rutgers gear for a state emergency. He should be representing the state today. It shows his head is elsewhere. Or maybe the above posters are correct that the UD jacket is the only one that fits him.

I've heard right wingers complain that Obama doesn't act as a cheerleader for America. Chris Christie wearing a jacket from a STATE school IN ANOTHER STATE--even a princeton jacket would be fine--surely doesn't count as cheerleading for his state, does it?

While I agree that this is a pretty pointless complaint, your awkward defense of Christie's sartorial choices isn't putting his best put forward.

1. Not from New Jersey, so your point is moot.

Oh, C'mon.

Isn't he also responsible for recommending Pat Hobbs? Regarding the wardrobe, I am sure much of the new attire is at the Apartment in Manchester NH where he has been living for the last few months!

Not even a Gemtor harness and an XXXXL t-shirt? That would be an interesting uniform. :scream:

If this was January of 2010 and
Jon Corzine stood before a bunch of microphones as the Governor of State of New Jersey
to speak to the citizens of New Jersey to make public safety statements
regarding an official state of emergency for the State of New Jersey ....
wearing a University of Illinois fleece ....
he would legitimately be called STUPID , TONE DEAF, and politically IGNORANT.

Regardless of who it is - a Governor who appears before his citizens in an official capacity to deal with a matter of critical importance - wearing some garment boldly displaying the State University of a neighboring state - is a fool .... a careless tone deaf fool.

But the question is:
Would the Snooki shirt have had as many complaints on this board as the Delaware fleece he was wearing .
Remember Jason and the Argonauts went through a lot of trouble to find that Fleece for Christie to wear.:p

The Governor of the State University doesn't work for the for the State University? Call me crazy but the State University represents the State all day, every day. If Christie represents the state then he wouldn't be wearing Delaware gear...I'm not butthurt, just talking common sense.

Yeah, let's hate on people for not having Jersey Pride while defending a governor that can't fit into a Rutgers shirt on a day of emergency, lol.

Maybe, just maybe, he didn't "choose" to wear anything. Like most of us guys in the middle of a monster storm, as such, we just grab the first thing in the closet, or on top of the drawer we open, and put it on.
Not when you're Gov and you're going to be photographed or on TV. There's still some thought about what you put it on. At least it wasn't Cowboys or ND gear.

Yeah, those two bothered me way more (which still isn't very much at all) than the Udel fleece. I can kind of understand wearing your alma mater's gear, but FUND and the Cowgirls? Inexcusable.

When any public figure wears sports apparel, people notice, whether it was his alma mater or not, he should not have worn the fleece. It polarizes people but he actually enjoys doing that. He thinks it makes him look tough. He prides himself on being an "in your face" kind of guy". To put this in perspective…. It would be like the governor of Michigan who is running for President,(btw)and an Ohio State grad, wearing an Ohio State fleece, during an emergency, knowing millions of his Michigan constituents would be watching. It is certainly his right but in my humble opinion, classless and totally inappropriate. People notice clothing, it sends a message.

No, he didn't recommend Pat Hobbs, but I'm sure he'll take credit for it if it works out.
