Chuba Ohams announcing tomorrow

The stress is that Eddie has sunken so low that he can't out recruit Fordham for a kid he wanted.

We don't know that. Danny Hurley and Ed Cooley "wanted" him too.

If he picked Rutgers then everybody would say the other schools backed off. So maybe we did too.

I'm not an Eddie defender but recruiting is the least of his problems, especially this particular recruitment.

Try to find stats on Ohams and tell me he's someone to stress over. Upside but production wasn't there this year
So, let's say you're right. It paints a bleak picture. RU's complete swing and miss in the fall has left them to pick at these types of recruits, and fight for them against these types of schools. Not much upside to even winning that battle. And pretty uncomfortable nonetheless losing those battles.

The signs are everywhere, and they couldn't be clearer.

A 3-star Forward picks Fordham over RU. Yikes.

Isn't this the 2nd time a kid picked Fordham over Eddie since he's been here or was that kid prior to EJ?

here is the bottom line, the list of other schools RU been fighting against for this kid and others remaining since spring is laughable.for a B10 school..Im all for giving Eddie one more year but hes gotta land a Big man and a power forward..if not hes toast.

Dailey picked Rutgers over better programs than Fordham.
Tripp picked Rutgers over better programs than Fordham.
Issa picked Rutgers over better programs than Fordham.

All those players could become busts in a long line of them at Rutgers.

This program is a dumpster fire but our lone top 150 recruit from 2014 is a total bust in terms of rankings.

Stop obsessing over rankings. Outside the top 100 players it's more about coaching and development.

Because every March people ask why mid majors can do so well in the NCAAs with under rated recruits.

But at Rutgers they're not good enough. Can't have it both ways.

If you're a four star with good grades you're not coming to Rutgers.

And unless we get a staff like St Johns we're not going to recruit like them either.

- normally B1G Rutgers should prove to be more attractive than Atlantic 10 Fordham
but ... Chuba Ohams grew up in the Bronx .... Fordham is in the Bronx
... friends & family can walk to your games?
could have been a tough one to win.

Jon Severe was the recruit EJ tried to get the first day he was hired, but it was too late he picked Fordham

the list of offers from this guy seemed to be better than the others...remember while Wisky showed interest they didn't offer and neither did Michigan

We had a pretty good recruit in 2014 with similar offers and he was better at this stage than Chuba. And he's been a disappointment. I realize offers matter to a degree but I doubt Providence, VCU and UConn were pushing. He's not as good as those offers suggest or else he would be producing instead of transferring to his third school.

What does it all mean? I have no idea . Hah

so if he signs it was a great get and if he doesn't sign he wasn't all that good to begin with. The board never disappoints
The won/loss record won't significantly change for the better with another low/mid level recruit.Complementary type players won't get Rutgers out of the abyss.Sanders type players are what is needed but they don't want to come to Rutgers.

Yep, which is why he needs to score big with 3 stars like he did with Laurent. Thiam and Dailey have a good chance to be those type of players.

Yes, we just freaking lost out to Fordham. Just think about that and let it sink in. Fordham.

Fordham is winning. Rutgers is not. Fordham has showed signs of winning, Rutgers has not.

We are who we are. Until Jordans contract is up, we might stay that way. No way a buy out is happening. Not enough money.

You have to start wondering if Jordan's job security becomes an issue on recruiting trail.

Like you said,Fig, what options do we have?Jordans contract has to run out. There is no chance at buy out, right?

Jordan is not a terrible coach. I do not think he is the one to lead Rutgers forward, though.

I heard people say that we didn't have enough money to buy out Flood or JH. But we did. And we have enough money to buy out EJ. Perhaps not the will, but the money isn't a problem.

What exactly would the buy out be?All these coaches are 55 plus. I say no to that. They are all unemployed for a reason. Just give Jordan one more year.

Hoops is dead. Give him another year, another two years, whatever. Wouldn't be the strategy I would do, but it is palatable to RU most likely.

Focus on the other programs as much as possible and build them up to proper levels, let hoops be the laughingstock it is until the B1G money really comes in, then make it right.

We are the new Northwestern. I wonder what their longest B1G losing streak was?

He didn't chose Rutgers and it can be spun any way one wants to spin it.
I chose to call it a missed opportunity, but it might not be as bad as it looks because
his adviser might have been a problem and a reason RU wasn't going after him like they would a recruit without baggage attached to him.

Why?

Jordan already has 3 guys locked up for next season.
I am sure he will get a 4th.

Lack of contract extension is not keeping these guys from signing.

How many scholarships do we have available for the following class?
I thought I heard it might only be 1 or even 0.

If that is true, it would not really hurt anything to let him coach 1 more season and see where we are at that point.

If we stink, we fire him and only lose 1 year buyout.
If we surprise, you can extend him at that point.
Plus, we would be 1 year closer to the new facitlity, and it would be easier for the next guy to recruit with shovels (hopefully) in the ground by then.

When a new coach is hired, he is in a honeymoon phase, and will hopefully be able to sell a vision.
New facilities would help make the sell.
If the new coach has to wait an extra year for facilities to become reality, I fear he would not have that initial bump in recruiting that we will need.

Watching Oregon vs Cal Athletes like we will never see here . Crowd like we will never see here. Fun to watch. And they are trying to keep Berkeley weird. Just what Bill Walton loves..

You summed it up perfectly why Eddie will be back next year. There is no need to extend this year. He locks up this class and then no ships to give next class.
