So much talk on the board about Cioffi's 2-hand touch attempt tackle. I must have missed it but am really curious. Anyone have a video clip?

He had good plays as well in the New Mexico game. He is just inconsistent. He has come up big for us in numerous games before and will come up big in our upcoming games also.

Just think about how a 12 year old girl would try to tackle.

You can accuse him of being slow or taking a bad angle -- but anyone who has actually looked at the play can see that he was already behind the QB at that point-- Maybe he could have grabbed the jersey to slow Apodaca down - but the angle was bad at that point... So, I think the "two-hand touch" b.s. is misplaced - and the t.v. announcers were just wrong... The worst thing he did was get in the way of Jones who might have had the speed to make the tackle from behind... and Lambert also lost the edge to start... I've seen Cioffi take plenty of head-on contact to know he doesn't avoid contact...

Bad play to be sure... but singling him out as the only reason for the busted play is too simple...

I chalked it up to him being gassed. Our defense was on the field often, and for seemingly long stretches.

Cioffi obviously thought the ball carrier was running along the sideline and did NOT want to risk a Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. Obviously a bad misjudgment.

Cioffi is one of the most fearless and tough kids on this team.

If you want to see a replay go to the WATCHESPN site, the full game replay is there, you can fast forward to that play. If you are just posting to try to embarrass Cioffi, well, then you don't have to bother.

He is undersized and doesn't have the hitter mentality. But he is the best we have. blame Flood for poor recruiting.

Cioffi is the only or the best DB that is not afraid to tackle anyone head on. Show me anyone else. And stop the undersize bs as he has responded nicely to Parker's training regimen.

He is a great kid and playing his best. I just missed the hard hitting safeties we used to have.

No. Was legitimately curious. Thanks might check out the app if have time...which probably won't.

I think we are going to miss Cioffi next year. He is not perfect but he has experience and some speed.

Perhaps. But generally the better safeties are the guys who make the highlight reel for administering the big hit....not receiving it.
But you're right...it's not his fault. It's not from lack of effort.

you are a fool for posting this. Do you know he broke his nose in Howard game, stayed in game? Also with a defensive backfield with below average linebackers, kids who have never played linebacker ever as back ups,a backup CB ,a freshman who may now have to play-Bailey,at CB..YOU WORRY ABOUT CIOFFI,WHO AFTER THIS SEASON WILL WIND UP IN TOP 10 IN INTERCEPTIONS FOR A RUTGERS DBACK?
This at a school that has produced NFL starters like Cooper, both McCourtys,Ryan,Harmon to name a few as Dbacks?? WTF Mr GERBZ?

People are making excuses here.....the play was an absolute embarrassment. I'd expect that out of my punter. With a choice of going down 21-0 or diving to make a tackle our player decided going down 21-0.

A really bad play for sure, but Cioffi's tackling is far from our biggest issue.

And you're an idiot. I wanted to see the dam video to see if as blatant as OTHERS were making it out to be. Jeez! Thanks for reminding why I primarily just read the board and don't post.

It looked like he was trying to push the kid out of bounds but the kid just dug his heels in and up the sideline he went...

Courtney Greene/Joe Young Lefeged he is not...

Lot of douche comments in this thread. The kid was running all over the field all day. He did his share. Focusing on one bad looking play when he was covering for a few other players that should have had a better opportunity to make the tackle is a noxious mix of juvenile and asinine by keyboard kommandos.

I watched the replay multiple times. You CANNOT justify his actions on that play. He may deserve props for many achievements, as noted above, but his effort on this particular play resembled a flag football effort.
