I've been an RU football fan for years and am just about tapped out on that. It's time to transition to hoops. I've watched RU hoops in the past, and followed pretty closely last year, especially the MSG run. I've only attended one RU hoops game in my life.

2 Questions -
1.) Regarding the new NCAA Football Redshirt rule, where a player can play in any 4 games, and still redshirt that season if he doesn't exceed 4 games, is there anything like that for NCAA Basketball? Can any of our young players play 1/4 of the season and then potentially redshirt, or if they play a single game, redshirt is out?

2.) Regarding TV for early season games.... will I have a place to watch the early season games against smaller level opponents like FDU, Maine, and Drexel? Will those games be televised?

Thanks, and hoping for a good year!

Medical redshirts are a thing, but there's no rule in basketball like the 4-game football rule.

Non-televised games will be on BTN+, which is a web subscription service. Something like $10/month, and you should only need it for November and December.

Reddit _____ streams for any sports and you can usually find almost any game. Not sure if college basketball streams for small out of conference games will be there but worth a shot

and reddit will be your buddy for streaming.

I did the RAC pass this year as well. Cheap and could be worth a look. You will find a lot more hope within this team than football. Although do not let expectations get away from you as theyre young. The talent is there throughout the lineup.

I am going to take this first question and give a little hoops vs football perspective that you may or may not be aware of.

In college hoops, freshman can play and contribute more as true freshman than in football so redshirting is rare for a true freshman. While rare, it bigs that tend to redshirt more because on the whole. their game is slower to develop both skill wise and strength.

Myles Johnson redshirted last year because he was coming off an injury and had gotten out of shape. He got into great shape and he developed his game through a year of practice against the rest of the team, working hard and being coached up.

Lastly, college coaches don’t really have multiple roster slots to redshirt players. They have to field a competitive team over 30 some games and with injuries, academic stress and simple young adult issues, most coaches don’t allot more than one of the 13 scholarship roster spots for redshirts, and most of those are for talented transfers not true freshman.
