Simpson v Davis - Honor of Troller Shelby65

That usage analysis is only when Ace and Dylan are on the court at the same time.

For example, if neither are on the court (hypothetical) then the usage of the five who are also adds to 100% during that stretch.

Or, if just 1 is on the court, usage of the other 4 will increase.

If they are ever both sitting, Pike will ride a defense first line up with an intent of slowing the game down. He’ll probably have Dercack and Davis in together with Martini. There won’t be a high volume of shot attempts in that small period.

Ace didn’t even play in the first 2 games. Davis only attempted 4 shots in each game. That’s what would’ve been the ask of Derek. It’s not easy to go from what he was in his first 2 years to that. It wasn’t a good fit - for this reason. That’s why he’s gone. It’s really that simple.

Don't know exactly how the usage stats are calculated, but I know they add to 100%. Dylan thru 2 games is at 35.7%....maybe when Ace plays Dylan drops to 30%, but Ace will be about 25% or higher....that leaves very little for the 3 remaining players on the court. He would either "be in the way" taking touches away from others OR provide a role just like JaMike and Dercack play and Jwill to a lesser extent.

Usage Rate takes into account player FG attempts, FT Attempts, turnovers and minutes played as a portion of the overall team stats for the same. When Ace plays, you are correct that Dylan's usage will likely slightly decline.

Usage rate estimates the percentage of a team's possessions a player uses while on the floor. Usage rate equals 100 times the sum of field goals attempted, a third of assists, turnovers and 0.44 times free throws attempted, all divided by the possessions.

it’s per possession so even in a slowdown mode, usage rate doesn’t decrease.

More silliness. The point is at the end of the day he’d likely only be getting 4ish shots a game here and that’s not the kind of player he wants to be. Whatever technical usage percentage that aggregates to would be irrelevant - his shot count per game would dramatically decrease.
