I didn't notice until now that the latest 4 CB on 247 on 6/29 has Corey Bolds predicted to Rutgers. I think we get him unless another school down south steals him. These kids have to be tired of the games that some of the HC plays.

There were 3 RU predictions on the 29th, so we have the latest predictions which is most important.

But yea, Crystal Balls are far from a sure thing.

It started out with Ace Anbender who is a Michigan guy. I think he's signaling that Michigan is full at DT.

I expect us to fully utilize the early enrollee options and the grey shirts so I think we should take about 30-35.

There have been kids with a 100% "crystal ball prediction" go to other schools already (http://247sports.com/player/joel-honigford-85965). These projections mean nothing. The commitment also means nothing until signing day.

They get the prediction formula just from their "experts" predictions. Most of the so-called experts are barely over 50% in their predictions and the best aren't even at 80%.

Nope. The week before their verbals, the latest CB's are about 85-95 accurate.

They are more reliable than any other source other than coaches.

Corey's offer list is pretty incredible. I sure hope we get him.

According to the article, he is asking our coaches to arrange another unofficial visit to RU. I don't understand the difference between an "official visit" and an unofficial one. Are there certain things that happen during the former that aren't permitted for the latter?

Thanks.

What is the difference between an official visit and an unofficial visit?
Any visit to a college campus by a college-bound student-athlete or his or her parents paid for by the college is an official visit. Visits paid for by college-bound student-athletes or their parents are unofficial visits.

During an official visit the college can pay for transportation to and from the college for the prospect, lodging and three meals per day for both the prospect and the parent or guardian, as well as reasonable entertainment expenses including three tickets to a home sports event.

The only expenses a college-bound student-athlete may receive from a college during an unofficial visit are three tickets to a home sports event.

Understand there is a history of if a kid does not take an official visit to RU, he does not commit, but what is the point of a NJ kid burning an official visit when he has an offer list like Bolds? I'll take him at his word that we are on the top of his list and he wants to get free transportation to more distant offers.

I dont see where the thought process is on why we think there are 25-30 spots open
A glance looks like 83 at present and 17 graduating in june which puts us right about where we are now.
It seems for every player coming in from this point CA has to have an idea whose spot will be taken. I think thats why things have been so silent. My guess is he would like to close the book with another defensive tackle but after that its only about serious difference makers.
My thought is this class is pretty much it.

Hopefully this time is different but I can't recall an instance where we actually got a kid who didn't take an official due to "familiarity."

We have had lots of kids commit before actually taking officials over the years because they have already been here enough. Personally I wouldn't read too much into that.

Yes, but the commits all took officials to RU at a later date. We have never had a kid sign a LOI that didn't take an official here. (That I can ever recall.)

But they all take OV's before signing.

If a kid is truly serious about us, why take 5 other visits as opposed to 4 other visits? If you say you are already familiar and don't need an OV then you just are not as serious as you say.

He waiting for a better offer. He 's in line at the other school and when the higher rated player decide to go elsewhere, he might be the one. On 247 and Rival, he's a 3 star recruit. I don't think he going to Michigan. The latest CB 8/26 is Rutgers.

All visits are official unless you are doing it over Skype. Schools should not pay anything for any visits or at the minimum limited to no more than three. And the final decision has to come from those three. The whole recruiting is so broken and since there is so much money in CFB, it needs a better structure.

You have until February 2017 for that to happen. Relax.

I am relaxed, the fact is while guys commit without taking OV's, I can't think of a guy who signed with RU who did not take an OV first.

I am still optimistic about Bolds.

While true, Bolds has said that he will not take one of his OVs to RU. Ash will try and change his mind for sure. But it's true that's of today, it would be very unlikely Bolds would commit if no OV here.

And Yesrutgers is correct. If you are that serious about RU, take 4 elsewhere instead of 5. An OV is a completely different experience than an unofficial.

Read somewhere that Bolds was wearing a Michigan towel in his belt during PC's quad scrimmage the other day, just like Gary did last season.

Yeah Michigan might be full at DT so he may be shopping around...
Unfortunately a lot of the NJ 4 & 5 stars still think RU is a safety school...
