Corey speaks...leaning toward leaving

that's not what the full context of the article....it says he is waiting for the feedback of the scouts before making a final decision, something that he kinda already has already....nothing new in this article, common sense would says he's leaning towards leaving, otherwise he would not be gathering information on the process....and common sense says that he's not on any draft boards and would be leaving school because he wants to leave school, not because he is going to be drafted.

This gives me hope ( on the banks article) : I’m really leaning towards coming out, but I want to get some feedback from the Kings and go from there.”
because I think Sacramento will let him know the holes in his game and how working on improving them by going back to college will put him in a better position draft wise next year.

But if they advise him he has a good shot to make an NBA team and of he goes., wish him the best and hope to see him in the draft and on the roster of the team that drafts him all of next season and a long NBA career

But...but...but...FIG says he is not even a good B1G guard

Smdh...

It doesn't seem like Corey likes college. There have been examples of young players going overseas to develop their games instead of NCAA. They also have been a lot more highly touted.

Obviously his goal is to make the NBA. Maybe for him college just isn't a fit.

I hope he comes back for selfish reasons of course.

The fact that he has only had 1 workout should tell you enough. I hope he comes back, otherwise he's making a very bad decision.

Love Corey Sanders' game but he should wait at least another year before going pro. Either way, good luck to him

listen I am tired of the program being held hostage by Sanders....this is something that effects Pikiell and his rebuild BIG TIME...If he leaves so be it, certainly I would rather he come back because next year will be a train wreck but on the flip side then we and the staff will be able to move on and not have to worry about the possibility of leaving next year

This. Never seemed like Corey was into the classroom part of college. He would doing himself a world of good to stay another year in school and be disciplined on and off the court. Maybe he ends up playing pro ball overseas but he'll need the education and personal discipline for something after his playing days are done. He likely can make money in pro ball somewhere, but I'd be surprised if it's enough to last him a lifetime.

That's not Corey's problem. This was always a possibility. Hell, he declared LAST YEAR. This is Pikiell's responsibility to recruit and build the program not Corey's. I'm tired of this too but if we are left with no backcourt for next year this will be the staff's fault and their's alone. It wasn't Corey's fault that Pikiell has wasted a scholarship on a player like Bullock and not on a legitimate D1 guard or offered a ship to a Juco who doesn't shoot and who may not graduate community college in Mensah. Pikiell gets paid millions of dollars to plan for these types of things. Even if Corey comes back, the staff should assume he's gone after next season anyway, if not to turn pro then for academics based on the time he spends away from campus.

Reading carino article I don't see much optimism for him coming back, his quotes also seems like he's throwing his eggs in one basket, Sacramento kings opinion of him. He may learn the hard way that nba is a business first and even though they may tell him promising things, there is no guarantee of a future with the team, or even a spot on a summer league roster.

I think he has this mind set he needs to go. His best friend Bacon is making it and other guys his year are going.

He is not ready. If he wants to grind in the D-league for a few years where your shot gets considerably lower than so be it. Very seldom do we see long term D league guys.

If the kings tell him theyll take him at 34 then more power to him. Next year will be that much rougher.

He's always been on the Eddie Jordan diploma path. At least Eddie stayed eligible for 4 years. Anyone know if Corey stayed on campus after the season ended?

It's obvious from watching that video he really WANTS to go. I actually felt kind of sad for him watching that because he's so mentally invested in going pro even if the interest hasn't been reciprocated by pro people. Who knows what kind of pressure he feels from family and/or others around him?

Love Pikiell the coach, but not so sure about his ability to recruit. Really need a guy that can sell ice to an Eskimo...a Dickie V type

i agree. But if its not in the cards its not in the cards. He needs better advisors around him. Keep him in specialized training all summer with the best of the best. Get him in the gym with Williams, Freeman. Then prove it on the court in his junior year. Not only will he have more $$$$ coming his way. He will add longevity to his career.

I don't think Sanders will stick in the NBA now nor do I think he would stick two years from now, but I sure do wish he wanted to come back to RU for his Junior season.

same Doucoure, Mensah(no idea how hell turn out), Kiss, Baker.

One or two more high 3 or 4 star and im happy.

the issue with the recruiting is that only Doucoure is projected big time difference maker. Pike has to land huge hauls in 2018 and 2019...its not up for debate, which means we needs to recruit significantly better than what he has recruited thus far. Sanders leaving early will magnify this problem because it potential torpedoes a season that at least could have been a tread water year to a year where they could finish with single digit wins which thus impacts recruiting

if he goes, I wish him well.
Opens up another ship.
Opens up a ship for who exactly? A less talented leftover from this current recruiting cycle perhaps. We have open ships now that we are having trouble filling with legit P5 talent.

At first I assumed 100% coming back as he's just getting NBA feedback and some good coaching

Now I honestly think he's gone. His mind seemed made up in the interview, whether he get drafted or not.

Of course. He's been leaving since he got here. I think he declard for the NBA draft when he signed his letter of intent. Those who are surprised by this haven't objectively considered his history of annually deciding to leave schools for basketball reasons. And he's barely not a kid, so don't expect his decision process to be particularly thoughtful or grounded. It will be emotional . Take this quote, for instance, which to me signals a kid who is dead set on the NBA to the point that he converts all the info he receives into what he needs it to be to justify his going into the draft:

"Most teams are worried about me going back to school."

Oh sure, they're worried about that. Or, to the extent they've even bothered to think about it, they know that a kid who has declared for the draft every year he's been in college is looking for the slightest reason to leave--or no reason at all--as he spends his entire spring on the other side of the continent from his college working out for basketball.

It really doesn't matter if he truly believes this. He wants to.

All things being equal, I'd rather see him leave for the NBA / Europe/ Dleague than transfer and make the NCAA with another team

Franky, where Corey's head is right now it's probably better he pursues his pro career. It would be difficult for him to focus on college team play when he's mentally thinking about improving his pro stock. I do not think he's nearly ready for NBA ( I mean Swanigan projected as 2nd rd, Delgado returning to SH), Melo Trimble not projected) bc it's tough to get drafted into NBA. He needs more seasoning for sure but school may not be his preference. Also, this allows Pike and staff to rebuild in earnest and recruit fully their team. Time for them to step up now!!!

Either way it turns out Rutgers will be fine. This corey leaving stuff has been going on for 2 yrs. Wish cory well, im sure he ends up overseas at best.
