No they aren't. They are the exception. Plenty of above average centers are four year players. Was hamady not talented because he wasn't a one and done?Talented centers usually are one and done college players.

Panic City once again. I just come here sometimes for entertainment more than information. This team will win games equal to or greater than last season's team. Look for more polished basketball with higher FT% and shooting %, and lower TOs. Have a little faith in the coaching staff; I know I do. These coaches can bridge the talent gap that we currently have with smarter, efficient basketball. I would advise people to watch players WITHOUT the ball next time they watch a game. We were in most games this season with a talent differential, and losses were from key turnovers, VERY low FT%, missed baskets within 4ft of rim, and just, well, bone-headed plays, along with people wondering around on defense at times. Clean that up, and we may have had a few more wins.
All winnable games last season:
Seton Hall 72-61
Penn St 60-47
Iowa 68-62
NW 69-60
Wisc. 61-54
Ohio St 70-64
NW 69-65
Michigan 68-64
We're not that far off, and considering the type of players these programs have, quite an achievement. The coaches know what they are doing.
I look forward to much better, efficient basketball this season with the players we have, signed and one to two more additions.
As far as Souf goes, don't we have like three former PGs on the coaching staff? I think they have some thought as to what they're getting. We need someone who runs the offense smoothly, efficiently and quickly without hesitation. Which i saw pretty much the opposite at times last year from that position.
You can count the number of above average four year centers in college basketball on one hand after a woodshop accident. The last four year college center that was any good was Tim Duncan. No they aren't. They are the exception. Plenty of above average centers are four year players. Was hamady not talented because he wasn't a one and done?
Well congrats..if you think that you're totally out of the loop. There are plenty of above average centers who stay for four years. Was hamady a four year player? Echenique? Delgado for shu should've been a 4 year center and he was good enough to be the best center in the big East..just because he took bad advice to go into the draft this year doesn't mean he fits into your convenient story that somehow four year centers are generally not above average players. It's horseshit. You can count the number of above average four year centers in college basketball on one hand after a woodshop accident. How many of the best college players in the country are senior centers? I'll bet not that many. How many of the best centers in the NBA now played 4 years of college basketball? Not that many. RUJMM78's point was that talented big men generally leave college early, and he's right.Well congrats..if you think that you're totally out of the loop. And that's just examples from two teams in new Hersey. Think of how many centers there are around the nation, think of how many declare for the draft and leave before four years, then think about how ridiculous your statement is.
Did I say the best in college basketball? No. I said above average. Do the best centers in the NBA have anything to do with above average college centers? Not really. Saying very talented big men leave for the NBA early is like saying the sky is blue. Saying that there are no above average 4 year college centers and saying the majority of good centers do not stay four years is idiocy. There are many good college centers and those who go pro in 3 years or less are the minority. How many of the best college players in the country are senior centers? I'll bet not that many. Maybe Mensah doesn't come here as the need is no longer for the skill set he provides
There are a ton of grad transfers still out there that the staff can turn to. We signed Gettys right before the fall semester started. I'm sure if Sanders leaves that Mensah will be here and the staff will look to add someone else to the mix. I wouldn't sleep on Baker's contributions to this teamAt this late in the game, it will be a scramble getting someone else. His skill set is still valuable, and much needed on a rebuilding team.
Yes with the news on Corey our need for a true pg on the roster has decreased as opposed to increasedMaybe Mensah doesn't come here as the need is no longer for the skill set he provides
