Craig Neal is out as basketball coach at New Mexico.

4 seasons with the Lobos and replaced Steve Alford when he took the UCLA job.

Hadn't made post season in 3 years and has a few kids transferring.

The natives got restless in Albuquerque.

Coaches are usually fired in the 3-5 year time period if the won/loss record doesn't meet school expectations.

New Mexico basketball fans are pretty demanding, partly because they have had success in basketball and partly because, until a bit of hope recently, their football team has been awful.

And with the Mountain West being so bad right now, folks at UNM can't understand why they're not cruising to 20-plus wins.

A West coast media guy put it out that the NM AD was at Colorado St when NU coach Tim Miles was there and that he has reached out to him. Nebraska fans(including me) are volunteering to help NM with his salary and any and all moving expenses.

FWIW, I think Miles would be fabulous hire for New Mexico. For whatever reasons, Miles doesn't appear to be a great fit at Nebraska. The Lobos would be dancing in no time with Miles at the helm.

Just so he leaves. Don't care how or where. Some rumbling on the NU board we may loose2 more players. earlier this week Ed Morrow, basically our tough guy rebounder,(he didn't play part the season or against RU, hurt) who is a legacy kid announced he is leaving. His dad played football and mom played hoops for NU and Ed was born in Lincoln and still has family there. His whole family bleeds Huskers sports. Something has to be wrong when you are loosing a player like that.

Yeah, something's just not right between Miles and the Huskers. It's a good time for both to part ways. New Mexico would be an excellent landing spot for Miles.

The Nebraska and New Mexico issues aren't different. ..two programs trying to get back on track....the constant with both is a high amount of transfers as underclassmen.

I honestly dont believe in the concept any longer of a rebuild the program with all 4 year players. ..if 40% of them transfer by their sophomore end of season, even if it's the bratty kids not wanting to work, the staff is going to be questioned. ..

New Mexico has a much better program historically than NU. They play in an easy conference as well so it's not as tall a mountain to climb. Nebraska had their chances 5 years ago and Tom Osborne messed it up, just like he did with every coach he ever hired.
