During the Nebraska game, I noticed that our special team's plays were not going the way they should. We had a botched fake FG, couldn't return the ball well, etc.

Is there anything different that we're doing differently this season compared to last season? Our special teams were crucial to winning games we almost shouldn't have last season. To drop the focus on that while we're still developing our program is questionable at best and disheartening at worst.

We blocked two punts...

It's infuriating that he will not allow any punt or kickoff returns. At least let Dremel catch/field a damn punt to save 15-30 yards each time.
It doesn't pay to return a kickoff because a fair catch gets you 25 yards. If we had a return specialist like Grant it might be worth taking a chance.

I missed that then. I'll admit, I was tuning in and out of the game by the second half. Was better for my health that way.

That is good to hear though. I don't think special teams has been performing up to par over the last few games we played, but if they are making progress then that's all I need to hear.

I guess my biggest gripe is with Patel though. I'm not sure if his kicks can be trusted and I believe this was even discussed in the post game conference.

Our FG kicking is very suspect …missed 4 of the last 5 (?)
Need to correct this soon.

I have no idea about of the veracity but on CFF, Mullen kind of as a throwaway comment was saying if you block a punt you have like an 80% probability to win a game.

We blocked two, no idea what sliver of a percentage we had to be in to lose that game lol.

That one blocked punt…ugh…he’s GOT to get that into the end zone.

That being said the one punt Dremel let go was ridiculous… there was no one within 15 yards of him, maybe 20, when he decided to run away from it and then it rolled for 25 yards. Just has to stop. Stupid.

Another panic post. and backed up by little to no facts. Why do so many people immediately want to look at a game through a totally negative lens - I don't get it.

I am normally pretty rational, at least when being serious which is admittedly rare. But I do sort of believe in Karma. I think we may one day discover some energy in our physical world that acts as a sort of conservation principle.

Anyway. I think maybe we used up our allotment of good karma in the Washington game and then lacked what we needed, karmically, against Nebraska. Not very rational, I know.
