I have to think that the ones clamoring for Hurley are thinking that if he were at RU the top NJ players from St. Anthony's and elsewhere would just start flocking to play for him. I can't see any other reasoning for wanting him over better candidates.

If I can't get someone like Archie Miller in here then I would prefer Sendek. He's a proven program builder and has a an even keel of a personality on the sidelines.

Danny only gets this kind of attention because he is a Hurley. There are dozens of coaches who have accomplished what he has. We need to shoot higher.

Find the next Shaka Smart.. he is out there... somewhere. The coming generations want the buddy/cheerleader type coach... the guy who will run onto the court and chest bump you after a big play. We need someone who guys will think it will be FUN to play for them... and FUN to play with the other players that such a coach will attract.

Right now.. there is someone out there in some lesser conference who fits this description. Find him. get him to Rutgers and you'll have recruits thinking it will be more FUN to play at Rutgers in the Big Ten than it is to play for SHU or SJU or Temple etc. Get enough of those program builder types and you might end up with the next tier of players thinking it will be more fun to play for Rutgers than Ohio State, Duke, etc. And even if we don't get there, we can go to the Gonzaga plan and red-shirt guys and field teams of 5th year seniors every 4-5 years.

But we have to get the players to choose Rutgers in the first place. FUN is the answer.
