Decreased Board Activity

i've addressed the fact that we have the Current Event, Politics, Off Topic Banter board with John... he won't change.. personally i'd move everything not football related to their respective boards.. basketball to basketball.. other non football sports to the other sports board.. and ot's to the aforementioned board^
:joy:

If we become competitive within our division we will see the board come alive, if we continue to battle for 4th on a regular basis then the level of activity on the board will slowly begin to decrease over the next few years. Look at Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, etc, being in the B1G alone isn't good enough to hold the fans interest over the long run, you have to field competitive teams. Young fans especially aren't going to be satisfied with just being in the B1G, to them that will be the normal, irrelevancy is just around the corner if we don't win.

if all OT's went there i'm pretty sure it would reduce the btching on this board by 50% :D
Yes, by losing 50% of posters. [laughing]

The CE board is really just a political board, it is where undesirable and out of control OT threads go to die, most regular posters would never set foot on that board unless they setup another political board for the current residents. Personally I don't mind the OT threads at all, especially during the off season.

thing is if all ot's were moved there it would drown out the politics! [cheers]

To me, traffic seems to have gone down with the site upgrade. But that's just me.
The like function definitely decreased posting. In addition to less posts because people just click "like", it decreases attention some threads may have otherwise gotten because there are less posts. This applies to Rutgers football posts too. Take this thread: https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/recruiting-high-school-coaches-instead-of-high-school-players.92865/ I'm guessing most people glanced at the thread title and didn't realize it was an article about Rutgers or Rick Mantz. It only has a handful of posts so some people probably skipped right over it. But if all the "likes" were posts more posters would probably click on it based on the post count.

For the record, I'm a fan of the like button but it definitely drives down board activity.

Team has been very bad since joining big ten with many blowout losses. While ash has things on right path it's still a multi year turnaround. Team likely isn't good this year either. As a result, interest in general is down.
When ash gets us back competing there will be a pickup in activity here.
Blowout against top tier B1G teams-I agree with you.

Bad since entering the B1G- 8-5 with a bowl victory in the 1st year. 2nd year was a sh*t storm all around. Mixed bag after 2 years.

Let's not have perception mislead everyone because you'll forever struggle to change the image. Rutgers is fighting that narrative as we speak... thank you Terry Shea.

Rutgers has also had a difficult schedule, still have not played Purdue. Only reason that Indiana made a bowl.
