The defense is obviously doing very well this year. Would say it is not a prototypical Schiano defense though. With the notable exception of a great secondary (Schiano defense trademark) I think there are big differences. I hate the "bend but don't break" description, but I would say are defense is built not on bringing pressure or "wrecking" havoc like we have had in the past. Rather it is play disciplined defense and force teams to dink and dunk down the field if they can. We will give up short runs and passes, but really have limited the chunk plays. Rare we run "crazy" blitzes (pass or run). Even yesterday we didn't shut down their run, (they averaged nearly 5 yards a carry) but shut them down on 3rd down all game. Really see Joe Harasymiak's fingerprints all over the d, it not just a Schiano carbon copy.
