You have literally no idea what you're talking about, RU and how we play or allow guards to create is EXACTLY what high level recruits want to see. They want to see opportunities to develop their games and be creative. Rippey is an explosive guard, who probably has a blend being between the talent level Dylan Harper and Corey Sanders in his arsenal.....I doubt high level recruits would be impressed with Rutgers half court offense.

This is by far the best offense we’ve ever had under PikeI doubt high level recruits would be impressed with Rutgers half court offense.
It’s an isolation NBA offense. Kids probably love it.Our offense is probably a lot more appealing to some of these high schoolers than you think.

High level recruits have choices among top tier basketball programs that are ranked. With the NIL they aren't staying at Rutgers for a extended number of years.Harper playing for Rutgers is a special circumstance based on family relationships with coaching staff.Rutgers current roster shows how weak the guards are excluding Harper. You have literally no idea what you're talking about, RU and how we play or allow guards to create is EXACTLY what high level recruits want to see. Untrue. Streetball showcasing is exactly the style the short-timers are looking for. It’s the only arrow Pikiell has in his recruiting quiver.I doubt high level recruits would be impressed with Rutgers half court offense.
Let me explain things, since you act as if recruits or parents of recruits are clueless.High level recruits have choices among top tier basketball programs that are ranked. With the NIL they aren't staying at Rutgers for a extended number of years.Harper playing for Rutgers is a special circumstance based on family relationships with coaching staff.Rutgers current roster shows how weak the guards are excluding Harper.
No, the two iso-only guards in your tale who have played college ball do not make the lesser players around them better. Look at our record. It’s not how you win. It’s how you lose. Teams win. Individual players don’t. Can you name a playmaking guard on any team in the conference top 5 ?Let me explain things, since you act as if recruits or parents of recruits are clueless.
A) Parents of recruiting targets do NOT care or take into account what happens in or during games.....the families have seen plenty of RU games in person or on TV and have been clearly identified as a program they have interest in......otherwise, why would the player be at a game....?? The player has interest in the team and how they play, otherwise they wouldn't attend in person.
B) the recruits, especially ones at levels like Rippey, already have an idea of what schools or programs they're interested in. Every coaching staff has a chance to bond with the recruiting targets and get to know what they're looking for and what they would like to have the opportunity or freedom to do. If the coaching staff has done anything correctly in recruiting Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey and now with Lino Mark in 2025, is the ability to be creative on offense and not be robotic or locked into running plays every time down the court
C) i hate to break the news to fans, but coaches know what plays other coaches run and once that mystery is solved by December or so, it then comes down to PLAYMAKING.....and in most cases, offense comes down to whether your weakest defender can stop someone OR in Rippey or a talented guards case, "can you get your own offense, when the defensive gameplan wins"??
Since most fans still try to apply football logic to basketball, it is as simple as this.....Can the QB make a play, when the receivers are covered or a blitzing defender is 1 on 1, trying to tackle the QB??
The best guards can play in some systems but the better teams, have multiple players who can win, 1 on 1 vs their defenders....ultimately the better teams have players at all positions whi can create offense and play solid 1 on 1 defense.
Rippey is pretty explosive on tape on offense and defense. I am not quite sure why fans want limited players, in a limited offense, so we can drop to the bottom 1/4 of the B1G.....Here's a clue......the teams at the bottom of the B1G and out of the B1G tournament (Nebraska, Washington and Penn State) don't have enough playmakers.....and they have good systems...
You simply cannot keep up in this type of league, trying to play system or rigid basketball.....you win by getting Dylan Harper, Geo Baker, Deron Rippey, Lino Mark type of guards.

LOL Cannot take you seriously if you don’t even know the guy’s name and where Purdue finished in the standings.Um….brandon smith ???
Braden Smith, John Tonje, Jase Richardson, John Blackwell, etc. are playmaking guards on good Big Ten teams (and I can name several more). Just because a player is a ball-dominant doesn't mean they can only play in iso. It's more important to have a talented player on your roster that will hopefully develop chemistry with their teammates than just looking for "system fits".No, the two iso-only guards in your tale who have played college ball do not make the lesser players around them better. What about Paul Mulcahy? He was good distributing-first guard and I'd rather Dylan or Geo as my starting PG every time.LOL Cannot take you seriously if you don’t even know the guy’s name and where Purdue finished in the standings.
He is fantastic, yes. Can score but the strength of his game is distributing. He elevates the players around him. Harper does not and Baker did not. Pike’s PGs are shot hunters first and foremost. It hasn’t worked.

So you agree Harper and Baker aren’t willing passers at PG ? That’s the point. For example, if you add Selton Miguel to Rutgers' current roster, it's a completely different team despite RU having the same system and players around him. Instead of a 15-16 team RU is probably 18-13 minimum and could very well have 20+ wins despite the lack of a rim-protecting center

So you think Harper and Baker elevated performance of their teammates ? Didn’t think so.What about Paul Mulcahy? He was good distributing-first guard and I'd rather Dylan or Geo as my starting PG every time.
Playmaking means making plays for yourself AND your teammates. Michael Jordan never known as a distributor but still made his teammates better because of his elite scoring and ability to distribute to an open teammate when he draws multiple defenders. There wasn't an existing system that Michael Jordan played in on offense because he WAS the system. The same goes for Dylan (and Ace to an extent).

So you think Harper and Baker elevated performance of their teammates ? Didn’t think so.
Harper is a top scorer and excellent finisher, but so what. The team is under .500.
That’s the undeniable fact. Iso ball isn’t winning ball. Wasn’t with Baker and wasn’t this year with the guard who will go highest in the draft.
it was for geo because he had assistance on the courtSo you agree Harper and Baker aren’t willing passers at PG ? That’s the point. Scorers yes, but absolutely do/did not elevate others.

Not going to waste more time discussing with someone who doesn’t know the names, the standings or even what “compliment” means. Harper and Ace haven’t played team ball at all. Grant rolled to the hoop undefended at least 5 times in the second half and Harper didn’t pass to him even one time. He’s only interested in his own PPG. Hero Ball Harper same as Hero Ball Baker.what are you talking about ???
Shot hunters ???
Dylan should be shooting the ball off the bounce …he can get his shot to the rim anytime he wants . If anything , he settled for way too many shots from the outside (partially from playing too many minutes )….and you are being critical ???
Who the bell did you want to shoot the ball instead ???
The issue we have had is we have not had a complete roster …we were our best when we had compliments for Geo (Ron and Jacob). We were massively missing a third perimeter player this year for Dylan and Ace ….
Go watch the recording of the games …and find out how much we
Has to isolate and spread to prevent double teams of Dylan…because we
Didn’t have a real threat to make teams pay for helping on Dylan
The failure is not in the schemes …(they were better this year , but still need sone work)…it’s the players on the court weren’t enough

Or with the offense in general.I doubt high level recruits would be impressed with Rutgers half court offense.
Dude, LMAO, your 1st informative post hasn't happened yet.... no one is actually listening to anything you are posting about from 3 or 4 of the Top 5 teams in the B1G.Moron post of the year for all to see.
Congrats. Take a bow.
Didn’t have another threat? Bailey not good enough to pass to ? Couldn’t elevate Acuff ? Or Sommerville ?
Again, stay in your lane. Critique the food.

Shelby is probably the dude who bitched the we ran so much of the offense through Ray Rice when he was here… Harper when on is the best person on the floor regardless of any team we face but yeah let’s criticize him taking on to much of the offense.Dude, LMAO, your 1st informative post hasn't happened yet.... no one is actually listening to anything you are posting about from 3 or 4 of the Top 5 teams in the B1G.
Trying to equate to making players better who would not play many minutes on those other teams you mention, shows you have no clue.
I get it, you believe Dylan Harper should play with anyone and miraculously lift those players to the NCAA Sweet 16 or better. And unfortunately for you and some of the fanbase, RU actually won today, which is probably the one thing that went wrong for you.
To get back ON TRACK in regards to the recruit who was here at the game today, the goal is to not try and connect things that are opinions as fact. The player who visited today has interest in RU.....for fans to try and diagnose how or why, gives weirdo vibes......just enjoy the games.....
I was more criticizing Pikes never really having an offense, not so much Harper specifically.Shelby is probably the dude who bitched the we ran so much of the offense through Ray Rice when he was here… Harper when on is the best person on the floor regardless of any team we face but yeah let’s criticize him taking on to much of the offense.

I don’t want to keep beating a dead horse on this….and sure , I’m sure another coach can run some stuff to hide some things …but it comes back to this questionI was more criticizing Pikes never really having an offense, not so much Harper specifically.

If you are an opposing coach , and Dylan has the ball or ace has the ball …other than Dylan and Ace, who on this team are you worried about making you pay for helping or doubling on Dylan or ace ???
Sommwrville right now is the only one , and he is not going to catch alley oops on pick and rolls ….
We don’t have a single player that can go off and make other teams consistently pay for their help defnese
So how the hell do you design mulitple sets over 40 minutes to over come that???
I’m listening …
I'd add in Dylan Grant as well with his cutting ability/athleticism and has shown potential as a 3PT shooterAcuff
Agree. I’d even add in Hayes and Martini as I thought that’s exactly what they were brought here for. But without structure there was very little ran to get them open looks.I'd add in Dylan Grant as well with his cutting ability/athleticism and has shown potential as a 3PT shooter
