Is Durkin and his staff, miles ahead of Ash and his staff? It's possible it's both, but the difference in the first year results is so lopsided I believe it points to one of these reasons WAY more than the other. Don't be on the fence,if you had to pick one, which is it? I'm going with the talent on the field is way ahead, as both lines dominated, and the speed they had over Rutgers was so telling. We have no game breakers on either side of the ball, and of course the injury to Grant killed us, but good programs have more than one.

I tend to agree. The talent level is so non-competitive it doesn't matter who the coaching staff is. I don't care what all the flood lovers on these boards say there's just no basis to the fact that better coaching would fix our woeful QB situation and lack of game breakers

Maryland has better players than us top to bottom. They have shown it in all 3 of our Big Ten meetings. We pulled the 2014 win out of our ass.

Both Randy and DJ ran the same scheme, spread offense. No learning curve. And since they've been running the spread, they already have the speed needed to run it effectively. Ash needs to recruit faster players, to be able to both run the spread and defend it.

Durkin attactracted much more recruiting wise last year and is doing so this year vs. Ash.

Maryland better players. If we had caroo and grant or equivalent I like our chances

Maryland better experienced staff as many of here said. Hire Randy as assistant.

Did you see the difference in speed during the game? They had many players a step quicker than ours

NSIS.

Maryland has a considerable amount of individual talent. Meanwhile, the mouth breather who served as you former head coach convinced everyone that *s didn't matter because he couldn't recruit for shet.

All of the recruiting services seem to think they haveore talent. play on the field seemed to confirm it.

Last 3 classes (rankings as per 247):

2016 MD #42 , RU #61
-- 19 places higher in the rankings

2015 MD #49 , RU #56
-- 7 places higher in the rankings, and that was before 3 of top 5 in this class transferred (Ford, Clayton, Shutack) and 1 of the top 5 (Dare) was recruited for a different offense.

2014 MD #40 , RU #51
-- 11 places higher in the rankings, and that was before three of the top 6 in this class (Boggs, Webb, Lott) transferred.

So there were enough teams between our respective rankings to fill an entire conference. I admittedly don't know if MD had anyone leave the program, but add this to what the other poster mentioned about the change in offense, and yes, we are at a disadvantage at this point in time. However, I remain optimistic that this fact will change. Looking forward to February 1st.
