Exactly. And the couple night before classes start were always great. When you're around there all summer anyway, was always fun to see more and more trickle back into town during the last couple weeks in August.

I was a commuter, so don't know this feel. Biggest regret of my undergrad years. :(

It was an awesome time to be around campus - parties, talent, frisbee, bars, talent, etc. And I spent the entire decade of the 80s on campus or just off campus. Summers were spent in NB, NB, NB, NB, HP, P'way, P'way, HP, HP from summer of 81 thru summer of 89, when I finished grad school.
