Difference between this game and st johns

Agreed. Issa needs to step it up and make one or two more threes. However it is encouraging that Issa didn’t play well and this team won. Shows guys can step up. Also Harper is going to be real good by his senior year. As you said, very intelligent player
RHJ is going to be real good long before his senior season.
I bet there are some old posts here that did not age well regarding Harper and how he would need to redshirt. Nice to see him surprise folks early.

Issa had a guy 15 inches shorter than him guarding him one play and we just looked away. For some reason we don't like to enter the ball into the post overall. There are plenty of times someone has position and we don't get it inside or even try to. When the three isn't falling for us I really don't get it. If we worked the inside outside game more those threes would drop easier. A kick out 3 is the easiest 3 from a shooters perspective.

We just won a road game shooting 25% from 3. Eventually we will shoot better and if we keep up this level of D we are gonna get a few upsets this year. Let's hope the big MO carries over to MSU. We really could have beat them twice last season. Let's get it doneeee

St John’s will never shoot like that again. Miami sure didnt shoot like they did. That’s the biggest difference.

Rutgers got really solid minutes from Mathis and Harper tonight. Kiss wasn’t invisible out on the court which took pressure of baker, who really was impressive. Baker looked calm and confident which I didn’t see vs St. John’s. Also the defense was superb tonight, we made Miami look really sloppy and it showed through their turnovers. Certainly not the best we could have played but it got the job done and showed a flash of how this team can be in the big ten.
Great points. We held Miami to 34% shooting and this is their first non-conference home lost in 20 games. Also, prior to this game Miami averaged 78 points per game. We held them to a season low of 54 points. Pretty damn good. If we played like this and if St. Johns shot like they normally do, that game would have been much closer. We are very young with three freshmen on the floor at one time tonight. The more seasoned they get, the better we'll be as they grow in B1G play.

for SJU they were too jacked and then were scared of SJU. When adversity hit they had no response. The frosh were deer...gerber babies. Tonight they faced it and fought and grew up. Tonight they were confident in the gameplan and their abilities. Alot of growing up between those two games and there was alot of learning lessons taking from that loss

Add in the fact that we went down nine early in this game and we did respond

Re: Issa in the post

He got an entry pass knocked away. Needs to keep learning how to seal his guy off. Not sure if that's why we shied away.

The fact that Issa isn't getting touches in the paint should tell you something. Neither does Shaq or Myles. It's a lower percentage shot for us right now compared to what we're regularly doing offensively. Eugene gets plenty of looks in the post. The staff trusts him there and the ball goes there. I trust the staff's evaluation of our talent. It's not like the guards are ignoring Issa, Shaq, or Myles. It's just not the best offensive option right now.

The centers must be a offensive option since the end result will be Rutgers playing 5 versus four on offense and five versus three when Baker is on the bench for a brief rest.
