One of the oft repeated cliches is that athletic directors should have a list of replacement candidates at the ready. C vivs retirement comes up often here and we’ve had a couple of coaching wishlist threads over the years. ... I personally wanted Staley way back but I don’t see that happening. This is such an interesting situation in that at some point we will have a legend retiring. Do you think Hobbs and stringer have discussed retirement ? Her replacement? Will they discuss a replacement when she does retire? How important will her voice be? Do you think she will want a voice ?

Chris Dailey has been mentioned for years now as a replacement for the Rutgers HC position . The retort always was , “ she is being groomed for Geno’s job .” At this rate Dailey will be past her prime as well.

Chris Dailey has pretty much made it plain that she is retiring when Geno does. If she wasn't, she would (duh) take over for him. I am very active on the UConn board and they don't even discuss her as a successor to him because she has made it pretty plain. At best they are hoping she would stay a year to help the new head coach, which they typically expect will be a former player.

Before UConn was UConn - she could have been lured away, in fact I thought she expressed interest when Grentz left. But now, that ship has sailed.,

The money is on her leaving when Geno does, not staying to replace him.
The bet is on Shea Ralph replaces Geno and keeps job in house.

Chris Dailey did not get the job in ‘95 and who knows what may or may not have been after Teresa Grentz left. We hit a home run with the Stringer hire then but like most good things they sadly come to an end. Stringer’s mentor Don Chaney was another who refused to see the end of the road when it became clear not all was well in Philly. Were the last 2 games an aberration ? Or can we expect 20 + wins and a sweet 16 in 2022?

I know people in daileys circle and I’ve heard she’s happy where she is as well. Interesting that no one really has any idea here. The program is by far the most successful in university history. I’d hope we’d continue that course with a big hire.
