Duke Will have its whole staff at the John Wall Holiday for 2024 PG Dylan Harper

Duke cherry picks elite players who stay 1-2 years before they leave for the NBA or transfer because Duke has recruited a even better player. Dyland Harper is considering Rutgers because his brother was a star player .It will be interesting to see what school he chooses because its a David versus Goliath recruiting battle.

I believe Dylan is considering Rutgers because he and his family saw how Pike and staff recruited AND coached/mentored/developed his brother Ron. Dylan and his Mom and Dad saw first hand how Pike sells himself and his program AND exactly how Pike DELIVERS. Every day. Practices, conditioning, home games, away, classes, summer sessions. The whole deal.

Duke is just recruiting.

HUMONGOUS difference.

Now that Coach K is gone, what advantage do they really have over the competition? Outside of “they’re Duke” which to me is meaningless.
That’s why I had that initial reaction. A bunch of show and I’m sure they’ll circle their Brink’s trucks (which they did before NIL anyway), but this recruiting situation is different.

This serious? Duke has been synonymous with college bball for 40 years. They have money, facilities, nba connections, etc. Coach K leaving hasn’t hurt their recruiting even a little bit. Let’s be realistic here.

I’m not stressing

I am sure Rutgers has had every opportunity to sell the program to the kid AND the kid has had every opportunity to see how his game would translate/evolve at RU.

Not much more you could ask for

If the kid follows the usual route to the blu chip program - what can you do

Eff Duke.

It’s great they’re coming to watch the kid, he’s a friggen lottery pick.
I think he’s coming to RU.
The hate is vicious around here
I respect your posts but there is a history here dating back to Jay Williams’ mom, Dahntay and Uncle Monty. The venom is justified with that phony pristine program. Rutgers fans: F Duke away! 😁

Time will tell. Looking at 2024 top recruits Duke is not a front runner for any of them that they are pursuing if you believe the experts. Including Dylan. Time will tell.

Duke was synonymous because of Coach K. Without him there they just have history and prestige to go off. Nobody knows how they will do with a new coach.

I grew up a Carolina fan in NC so hating Duke was easy.

Let's bring a little reason to this. Slater is a Duke lackey,so understand that. Duke is not at all diminished. Villanova is very much so. Scheyer will win National Championships and send 2 or so kids a year to the NBA. He had 2 of the top 3 Duke recruiting classes ever after he was announced as head coach.Duke is Alabama in football. And the Harper situation is way different from all the other kids they are recruiting. Call it special circumstances if you will.

Let’s see when Sabin leaves where Bama goes.

You mean the team that’s on a 5 game winning streak since their 5 star freshmen was able to play and will be getting Justin Moore back shortly? That team? Lol I think they’re just fine.

Guess what - our arena is bigger. Louder. Campus is in a cooler location.

Also, Durham has to be one of the most run-down dump cities in America. Seriously makes New Brunswick look like Milan. It’s not Chapel Hill.

Private school, little brother in every sport except arguably basketball and again thats arguable

No Coach K - playing for an unproven head coach who just got his doors blown off in historic loss to worst basketball program in North Carolina

Dylan’s choice should be easy!

On TOS, the lead staff member said they are comfortable putting a crystal ball in for duke for Harper FWIW
the guy is 80% correct and all those correct ones are less than a week before they commit when everyone knows where the guy is going. The one recent one I saw where he put in a pick well in advance he got it wrong.

I want him here bad but how do you turn down duke? Theyre history of getting guys to the nba is insane. Especially if your goal is one and done. They have more #1 overall picks than we have total draft picks this century

Their current coach has no history of doing anything

It's not like Dylan can't be a 1 and done at Rutgers. He has a famous NBA father and brother and is a 5 star recruit. He's already on everyone's radar. He would be playing in the B1G against excellent competition getting great exposure. Less likely he loses playing time or doesn't get to be "the man" at RU than at Duke

You’re a dumb sonofabich. Obviously if you recruit one and dones you’ll have more make the league. Has nothing to do with development.

So UCONN is around 15 point favorites tomorrow night. You’re saying I should take Nova to win or say lose by 3 or less? Or need Moore back then they are cooking?

Is the talent on the roster today really better than Fred Hill's second team? I am not so sure.

It's not like Pike wouldn't be sending kids to the NBA every year if he landed a bunch of 5 stars every class
Exactly. The reason we don’t have any 1 and done’s come through Rutgers isn’t because it’s not possible to be a one and done from Rutgers. It’s because we don’t get 5 star recruits who have the talent to leave after one year.

Dylan doesn’t need Duke
