How many practices have there been?
5. But DiNardo has only seen today's practice. How many practices have there been?
I don't think you have to be a naysayer here to know that Rutgers is going to be uncompetitive in the division for at least another two years. Here is what DiNardo said:
"I think they are really close in the pass game, so IF you based it on TODAY, you can give them a tie in the pass game, and I think you give Zach the edge in the run game. But you have to give Zach the edge in the run game because he has had more reps in this offense. That doesn't mean that Chris isn't going to be able to catch up to him. It's tight, they both look pretty good."
Where's the headline from what was said right after that:
"A lot of talent out there. This is a very talented team for a first year team."
Revsine: "Let's give credit where credit is due to the last staff."
Blowing sunshine, or are the naysayers here correct that we suck?
Know? Or think?I don't think you have to be a naysayer here to know that Rutgers is going to be uncompetitive in the division for at least another two years.
Sad if he is the starter, not a fan of either per say. But imagine what it says of RU if a pt player from tcu is our starter........ Desperate
Our QB situation is desperate...Sad if he is the starter, not a fan of either per say. But imagine what it says of RU if a pt player from tcu is our starter........ Desperate
No thanks to zackThe same TCU who was 23-3 the last two seasons or a different one?
No thanks to zack
Boykin was on another level. No thanks to zack
When you have 2 QB's you have no QB's !Its dead even folks. Another of the BTN analysts tweeted today that Laviano was passing better and Allen was running better.
It's amazing to me how Allen could be tied with Chris so fast and passed Rettig. I think a lot of us who killed Flood last season, and with good reason on a lot of levels, need to admit he was right on the QB depth chart last year. Sure maybe Hayden would be further along if he got 1st team reps, and I had high hopes for him, but something just hasn't clicked for this kid,at least not yet.
I don't necessarily think I thought Flood was wrong on the depth chart last year. I think, and I think most people felt the same way, that Flood should have given Rettig a chance when it was obvious Laviano was struggling so bad. One, sometimes it helps to sit and watch. Two, some guys are better game players then practice players so it is almost worth it just to see if that is the case when Laviano was playing so poorly anyway. It's amazing to me how Allen could be tied with Chris so fast and passed Rettig. Got to factor in the switch to a new offense which requires additional skill sets at the quarterback position. It's amazing to me how Allen could be tied with Chris so fast and passed Rettig. The dumbest thing said on this post was that RU will go bowling this year. This is no reflection on Ash at all. As far as STARTING talent...there are so many weaknesses it is ridiculous. Thanks Kyle...who was kept to save our recruiting...and he saved a couple of people but in the process seriously damaged this program.
Amen. I'm hoping for the best - and the shocking this year - as always, but people get so easily hung up on "word out of camp" and tweets from the B1G talking heads after they visited campus for a day. It's just like when people get excited by an offense destroying a D in the spring game. Uhm...hello...it's your own horrible D they just destroyed.

-----Perhaps not, but the "pt player from TCU" comment seems to ignore the fact that Allen was backing up an extremely successful QB. Who knows what his deal is. May have been a bench player a lot of other places, or may have been a starter a lot of other places.
Your life sucks doesn't it?Sad if he is the starter, not a fan of either per say. But imagine what it says of RU if a pt player from tcu is our starter........ Desperate

In reality he was 4th string, the reason he played other positions.....
Other thoughts...... If the two are even, I think the staff starts with Laviano, due to his experience as Qb. And having the better feel, passing to familiar targets, etc..... I think Allen would have to be noticeably better as a passer to start....
Me, I would love the threat of a running Qb To keep defenses honest.... But if Allen cannot complete a decent percentage of passes, the defense closes in, and the scrambling gains we hope for become a bit more tough to get.
Maybe he's improved having professional coaching? Not a Laviano/Flood supporter, just hoping he's improved if he is indeed the starterThis. Saying that Laviano is the better passer and has the better touch on his passes is real scary.
We have seen the continued inconsistently in his passes ( even short passes out in the flat are a set up for crushing on the RB).
The biggest difference between how Ash and Flood will treat QBs is the likelihood (based on his experience at Ohio State) of pulling the starter if he's playing poorly or replacing him if he's got several poor games in a row.
It's also a bit difficult to say Flood was right about Laviano over Rettig when we're utilizing a different offense this year. It's not exactly a fair comparison imo.

This. Rettig absolutely should've been given a shot given how horribly Laviano played and how good Rettig looked in very limited mop up duty.
