Dunleavy: Jordan due a big raise in year 3

Holy cow?

"The seven Big Ten coaches who led their teams to the 2015 NCAA Tournament earned an average of $2.83 million in total pay last season"

Laurent to me is the big X factor. I have already formed opinions on others, but am still not sure what Laurent can bring to the table.

If he in fact shows he can defend and do enough offensively.....

Sanders Johnson Laurent Freeman Diallo/Doorson
bench Williams Foreman Diallo/Doorson

That is a team that has no resemblance of what we have now.

I have been waiting for 2 1/2 years for a "culture" change. if i saw it I'd be banging the drums to keep Jordan irregardless of finances.

What does Jordan think watching the championship game last night watching saban OR michigan State and Izzo? Does he disagree with how they do things? what does he think of kifin calling the offensive plays?

1.45 mill is a lot of money for a six win
Coach

If your reason for firing him is that he is not producing results, that is fair. He certainly isn't being overpaid by Big Ten standards as he is at the bottom of salaries for Big Ten basketball coaches and rightfully so. $1.45M is not a lot relatively speaking and, if fired, his successor will probably command even more money.

if the season keeps going as it has been going, I believe the press will be on our side with this one and not blasting RU for eating this contract

Hope you're right and you should be.
But I fear the local rag will claim buying out Jordan's contract is a waste of money and then use it as an excuse to knock the legislature's voting for the $25 mil to help Rutgers upgrade to its athletics facilities.

I know it isn't this simple but F@#K the media. So tired of New Jersey politics and media.

I think a large part of the Hobbs choice was that the "media" will feel less secure taking the typical shots at RU with him at the helm. He is much more politically connected than was JH. My guess is we will see a much more cordial tone from the SL and others for the next year or two.

This past year, the top 7 Big Ten coaches were paid an average of $2.81M while the bottom 7 were paid an average of $1.39M.

$1.45M will put EJ ahead of Chris Collins at NW ($1.4M), Richard Pitino at MN ($1.2M), and Pat Chambers at PA ($0.9M)... and just behind Tim Miles at NE ($1.65M) and John Groce at IL ($1.7M).

Link to salary chart.

fully agree.....RU is on a short honeymoon period with the NJ press now that Julie was removed. It will not last forever. Media guys like Hobbs. Media guys were all over RU for not doing anything with facilities. They are not going to criticize RU building those facilities and spending money. This isn't 2006 with Mulcahy. Hobbs needs to take advantage of this quiet time by the media and get a lot of things done

It isn't just the media. $$$$$$$$$$$.

Remove yourself from the situation....we have 1,000 season ticket holders. We have hired and fired a coach every 4-5 years for the past 20+ years. why spend x amount of $ to hire another coach that most likely will fail? It seems like a stupid investment.

None of us know the financial situation we are in. The past 5 firings have been a mistake. the reality is....

Program would have been best off if waters was never fired
Program would be better off if even Fred hill Jr wasn't fired
Mike Rice.....not going out on a limb either way...

Fire Jordan if the $ is there AND a candidate is lined up. Do NOT make change for change sake here. For the record I believe Eddie Jordan is a god awful coach and I don't think....I know...I'd do better running the team (taking recruiting out of the equation)

so why build a practice facility either...you just decided that the next coach is a failure, we should just shut the program down by your argument

What is your salary requirement?

Maybe we could get you for a year until the faciliies are built!

Would love to see it.
Couldn't be any worse, that is for sure!
