Not good for us.
Ugh....we have GOT to make a move...The Twerps are going to hire someone better, as they've got a pledge from their UA guy to make them the next "Oregon"...this is just bad, bad, BAD news for us.
Dude. Go do something that makes you happy. You have demonstrated your knack for looking at everything pertaining to Rutgers football in the most negative light. We get it. It is tiresome. And a really poor choice of words.Next up to rape New Jersey of its football talent: The Twerps!
Did I say it was good? Did you see my other post? I don't see it as good or bad yet. I just is. Julie, what ya got?I get that your MO is to always spin everything in the best possible way for RU while always keeping the bar set as low as possible. But I'm not sure how or why you think this is good.
They have big donors not afraid to make a move when it proves to be beneficial. As well as leadership that understands the value of a "Successful" program vs. middling.I'm surprised by UMd's apparent willingness to pull the rug out from under him mid-season. They had a decent first year in the B1G last season and recruiting seemed to be going well. And this is supposed to be an athletic department with financial problems just about as big as ours has.
RU has done quite well against Edsall so I will miss him if he's gone, LOL. Worse case scenario for us is that UMd might hire Chip Kelly whom I hope never to see again in Rutgers Stadium unless he's there as the head coach or OC of RU.

Word on the street is Kevin Plank is "all in" (take that FWIW) to get Chip Kelly if (when?) Philly fires him. I've read talk of him being open to offering UA stock options and being willing to work with UMD to go as high as $7 million/year to get him. All message board chatter for now, but we'll see what happens.

Just to let you know, we are keeping Hasksins.
That would suck big time, sounds a little like Rich Rod's deal at Arizona where they got a little creative. UA is a great company too and still growing and those options could be worth a lot more over the long haul.Word on the street is Kevin Plank is "all in" (take that FWIW) to get Chip Kelly if (when?) You do know they have the real $ for a good coach.

I've never seen Edsall as that good and hiring a recruiter like Locksley didn't help him. I don't think he was a good OC and don't remember him having any track record of that. This is has been one of my points. Don't focus on recruiting so much, focus on guys you think are good coaches that can maximize talent. How'd Hoke do? Butch Jones and his great recruiting in Tenn? I've always said recruiting is a tiered pyramid with the tiers getting wider as you go down. Forget about the actual rank, we're usually going to be in the same tier most of the time regardless of coach. So best to focus on the guy you think has potential to maximize whatever type of players you're realistically going to get year to year.
They did but did it increase his buyout? I'm not sure but I thought it stayed the same? Those jumping off a cliff should at least wait until they actually fire the guy.
Maryland just extended Edsall this past summer, so it would certainly be a bold move of them to fire him.

"by firing Edsall before his original deal ends Jan. 15, 2017, the school will have to pay him for the remainder of this season and an additional $2.6 million: $2.1 million for next year's salary and that half-million buyout."They did but did it increase his buyout? I'm not sure but I thought it stayed the same?
Maybe I don't even know. Like I've said I don't really follow recruiting. My point is I don't care that much. Recruiting without coaching and development doesn't help and I gave some examples above. Focus on the coaching ability first and the recruiting second especially when it's high level positions of HC or coordinator. The positions coaches are a perfectly fine place to hire top notch recruiters. Coordinators/HC recruiting ability is something to take into account but not my point of emphasis. If you can get both then great but if I have to emphasize one over the other it's the coach ability not the recruiting ability.Regarding Locksley, doesn't Maryland have a top 25 recruiting class coming in next year (well, at this point anyway)? Seems he can at least recruit a little bit, but isn't a great coach.
So the buyout stayed the same but they have to pay him a year's extra salary. That was kinda dumb on their part. I thought the extension was kind for show and maybe a marginal increase of money owed."by firing Edsall before his original deal ends Jan. 15, 2017, the school will have to pay him for the remainder of this season and an additional $2.6 million: $2.1 million for next year's salary and that half-million buyout."
Maryland firing Edsall makes our standards for keeping a coach pretty low.
