Anyone else notice Eli Manning's reaction late in the game when it was clear the Broncos took control? Everyone in the Manning box was celebrating except Eli, who looked like his dog just died. I wonder if he was thinking, man, now Peyton caught me in rings, that was the one thing I had over him.

If you saw the interview with him about this very subject, it was obvious how much he wanted it for his bro.

I think Eli just has the mindset of a pro player. Nothing is over until the whistle blows. After all, he completed the most improbable pass in super bowl history. he probably has the mindset of not celebrating too early.

Exactly.

I knew people clueless about football would claim eli was upset right when i saw that cut. (After all.. this is the board that thinks games are over in the first quarter and jinx it)

There was still 2 mins left in the game. He knew anything could happen.

I don't think Eli needed his brother to get a second ring to know he's not as good as him.

Funny. I remember the exact same conjecture about Peyton's lack of emotion at a critical moment during one of Eli's SB wins.

That family is tight. It's pretty hysterical that people think they (Peyton and Eli) might not be pulling for each other to win championship games.

I don't think anyone really believes that he wasn't happy for his brother last night. It is still funny in relation to everyone else in the box.

its amazing how people want to make a story up... He is clearly nervous for his bro and breathing in a sigh of relief there. He even hi fived the lady in front of him.

Eli is never really excitable, so that is exactly the kind of reaction i would expect from him.... Funny meme? Yes..but simply not true at all.

Maybe Archie was drunk again and grabbed Eli's junk thinking he was grabbing his wife who is right in front of Eli?

Eli haters gonna be Eli haters! Still has the 2nd SB MVP trophy and, yeah, you're way off base here.

He is a Giant, after all, and Giants and their fans know too well, "It ain't over til it's over."

Watch his eyes. He is looking down at the play on the field. Then when everybody else celebrates, he looks up and to the left, probably at the scoreboard. I would think he is calculating score differential, time remaining and strategizing. He is a pro football player at the biggest pro football game of the year. He isn't watching the game as a fan, he is living the game as a player.

Not only what is written above but does it occur to anyone that Eli is still a current NFL player and huge competitor in his own right and regardless of his brother's W-L total in the Super Bowl this guy wants to get back into the big game himself badly? I mean the Giants have missed the post season the past 4 years which I believe is the longest playoff drought for the franchise since the 18-year dark age snapped during LT's rookie season. I'm sure he's very happy for big bro but realizes there's a lot of work to do for his own team to get back in the position to win the big game and he's probably only got 3-4 years left to do it assuming he remains healthy. It probably has more to do with his desire for the Giants to win SB #5 and less to do with his brother winning SB #2 to tie him. That's how I see it anyway.

Yes, the game isn't over but that doesn't mean he can't be happy and cheer. So does that mean Eli sits on his hands and shows no emotion the whole game?

Maybe you should go out and coach him on how to watch a football game.

Is there anything people won't whine incessantly about?

Does he have to? No

But that appears to be the way Eli approaches the situation. It's more interesting than it is instructive.

Troy Aikman had a very Jack Whitaker-like comment on just that during his coverage of Eli's first Super Bowl win.

Ever see a pic of a guy/girl doing high level equestrian jumping? They are always looking at the next jump EVEN while making their current one. Pretty sure it was some of that and big sigh for his big bro.

Silly.

Isn't that an old video?
Nope, that is the video from when Denver went up 22-10 with just a few minutes left yesterday.

Bunch of grouchy Giants fans here. Have a little fun, people. There are some funny reactions to this video making the Internet rounds.

Yes, of course. You nailed it.

Man you guys are going to hate it if/when Eli goes to Canton.

I'm a Cowboy fan. But Eli looks like a kid there

He was happy for Payton, but thinking how much he's going to hear about this game at every family gathering, until he gets his third SB ring.
Either that, or like most past NYG QBs Eli's a little slow on the uptake.[winking]

Again, this makes no sense, as Eli has won 2 SB MVP awards and will always be able to use that at T-Day dinner (just like Peyton can use the 5 NFL MVP awards...).

Had he been concerned about time remaining for Carolina, his reaction would've been more deadpan. He showed shock that they scored, maybe thinking back to his last SB when he was playing for FG and Bradshaw went in for TD. He might have been surprised by the strategy

Everyone knows that being +14 beats +7. He wasn't worried about time being left for a comeback. Yes, he knows anything can happen. he can also see and interpret that Panthers weren't making up 14 points in 3:00
