Flip on any college game today and practically every team has a qb that can run 5+ yds for a first down. The position has evolved. The days of the qb just handing the ball off or staying in the pocket like a statue and throwing the ball are no more.

Maybe in college, but not in the Pro's. They only last a few years in the Pro's, 1st injury they're done. It'll never work in the Pro's, they're just too quick and talented on defense. Can't tie up that much money in a QB who could possibly get hurt on every run.

Gotta feeling that we are going to see a lot more Carson Wentz type QB in the future. FBS schools will look continue to look towards dual threats to run their spreads while schools like North Dakota and Delaware will run more pro style offenses with the exception of Alabama and USC.

It's not just about tying up money. If you wear out your quarterbacks faster that will affect your drafting as well since you'll need to draft more at quarterback to make up for the injuries. And drafting quarterbacks can be a crapshoot. On the other hand, in college, a guy isn't going to play more than four years anyway; so you don't worry so much about him getting injured.
