Quotables
Marquise Wright on choosing a college prior to visiting Rutgers:
“It’s just where do I feel comfortable and where do I want to be and where do I see myself. There are so many things that go into play when you pick a school and I feel like Michigan State has met those standards.”
Mike Coburn on Mike Rice’s yelling during the game:
“I’m okay with it, he yells but he only yells for ten seconds and it’s over. He might come back the next play and yell at me for the same thing. He’s just yelling. I just have to take it and do what he wants. It definitely works, if I do what he wants then he won’t yell at me.”
Kadeem Jack on adjusting to college-level competition:
“It’s been a big adjustment, playing through a lot of stuff and the instruction. You have to listen, you have to execute. You have to execute with detail and that’s a difference from high school because if you’d make a mistake here or there, you’d keep going, but here they stop and there are consequences.”
Bart Fuller talking about whether his son, Devin, will play quarterback in college:
“If you look at his tape, there is no doubt he can play quarterback. You have to look at those intangibles that he has.? But it’s really up to him what he wants to do in college.”
Mike Poole on playing in front of a noisy home crowd:
“When The RAC gets involved, I don’t think any team can beat us in here. When you get all these fans yelling, you get angry if you disappoint them. You don’t want to let them down.
Scott Goodale on filling The RAC for tonight’s match against Virginia Tech:
“We’ve got one of the best teams in the country in No. 3 Virginia Tech coming in here. If we can’t put people in the RAC for this, we may never put people in The RAC.”
Fou Fonoti on all the attention this past week:
“My phone was going off, coaches were trying to talking to me so it was a little overwhelming.”

Recruiting tidbits
Two mystery visitors
The visit list for this weekend posted to this site is correct, with two exceptions. Two visitors have asked that we not release their names. Why? They are committed elsewhere. At this time of the year, kids often take visits to schools despite being committed elsewhere. Speaking to the media risks losing those scholarships should the school they committed to finds out. With that in mind, we are honoring their request that we not post their names. Should they change their commitment to Rutgers, you will be notified. Stay tuned.
New Offer
Another offer came out of Rutgers Junior Day as St. Joe’s Hammonton athlete Max Valles left with a verbal offer from RU.
“I was very happy and proud, it was my first one,” said the 6-foot-5, 210 pound athlete. “The best part [of the day] was when we talked to current players because they told us what Rutgers is all about.”
DeMatha offerees
The DeMataha trio of Sam Lebbie, Brent Wilkerson and Mike Moore also walked away with offers. When word of those offers leaked, lebbie started to recive quite a few calls.
“I had lots of interviews this week,” said Lebbie.
Attention came at a more rapid pace for Wilkerson, who already holds three offers.
“It’s been pretty good a lot of interviews lately, but recruiting everything is starting to pick up. Georgia Tech and BC are really on me right now and I think close to offering.”
Coaches from Georgia Tech stopped by DeMatha on Wednesday.
New visitor
Rutgers will welcome New Smyrna Beach (FL) wide receiver Raheem Mostert next weekend for an official visit. Mostert verified that he will be in Piscataway on the weekend of the 28th instead of a previously planned trip to Marshall. Mostert is currently on an official visit to Southern Miss this weekend and holds a RU offer in addition to eight others.
Solo visitor
Woodland Hills cornerback Lafayette Pitts arrived in Piscataway around noon today without nearby PA prospect Desimon Green, who cancelled his trip to Rutgers yesterday.
Frank Taylor (Archbishop Wood, PA)
The offensive lineman has already pulled in an offer from Pitt and joined teammates Desmon Peoples and Colin Thompson at Rutgers Junior Day, both of which hold RU offers.
“Coach Schiano said he’d really like to see me and the boys (Colin Thompson, Brandon arch, and Desmon Peoples) play at Rutgers,” said Taylor. “He didn't exactly say [I had an offer] but I think he was hinting at it.”
Michael Giacone (St. Peter’s Prep)
The 6-foot-5, 230 pound tight end is starting to come up from under-the-radar and was able to spend some time with RU head coach Greg Schiano at last weekend’s junior day.
"Me and a few teammates got a chance to talk to Coach Schiano personally,” said Giacone. “He talked with us about keep the talent in New Jersey and doing something special at Rutgers.”
Josh Goldsboro (Schalick)
Yet another up and coming NJ tight end, Goldsboro also had the chance to tour the RU campus last weekend.
“The best parts were that we got to talk to the players and that you got to see the way the team works,” said Goldsboro, who is also receiving a lot of interest from Iowa lately.
Nico D'Angelo (Holy Spirit)
The offensive lineman was among the long list of visitors to Rutgers this past weekend as had his share of in-school visits from coaches inquiring about him.
“Maryland, BC, Cincy have been by recently,” said D’Angelo. “Penn State was in (this Wednesday) and Rutgers was Thursday. I think Rutgers is the closest to offering."
Charles Wingate (Bergen Catholic)
BC’s starting point guard was invited to the RU junior day but couldn't attend due to basketball game. How will, however, attend Boston College’s junior day next week. Thus far, interest in the 5-foot-9, 165 pound athlete has been limited to UVA, BC and RU.
On the mat
Rutgers wrestling will embarkl on of of its biggest matches in history tonight when the 8th ranked 16-1 Scarlet Knights host No. 3 Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. inside The RAC. Rutgers most recognizable wrestler, 165-pounder Scott Winston, will look to lead RU to its thirteenth consecutive win. Winston sat out much of last month, nursing a sore knee.
“I have some torn ligaments in my knee,” said Winston. “I took some time off, they are still torn. I’m going to have to have surgery after the season but they feel pretty good. I still have two more months left to go.”
Everyone else in the lineup looks ready to go and fully healthy with the exception of one weight class.
“Right now, I don’t know what we’re going to do at 125 [Matt] Fusco is a little banged up,” said head coach Scott Goodale. “We may go [Joey] Langel there. Other than that, we’re as healthy as we can be.”
