Fellas...we got a basketball team

What was good to see as well is that it was very clear to me from the tip - that we did not have our "A" game - and yet despite playing adequate at best - we still won quite comfortably.....

We have a coaching staff that gets more out of the players and has them playing like a team, not individuals.
Is this true? If yes, I'm shocked and will have to check out a few games.

It's a fun team to watch. Nigel Johnson and Cory Sanders are fast and faster. I enjoy watching Larent and Forman drive the lane. We are out rebounding everyone...albeit the competition has not stepped up yet. CJ Gettys is enthusiastic and at 7 foot tall and 3 foot wide he is a force on the boards. I AM TOTALLY ROOTING FOR THIS TEAM.

I wish that the fans would show up and the ones that are there need to wake up!

I agree with OP, but....

1. 4 teams we beat appear awful
2. This is only Game 4. Let's see if players play hard after a 3 game losing streak or 4 months in to the season. This is still the honeymoon.

I really like what I see so far. Pikiell is very positive. Love substitutions. Love allowing players to play through certain mistakes. Love the passion and energy. Of course, love the D.

Been a while since we could say, 4 games into the season, "We've won the games we were suppossed to win." Nice not to be panicing with 5 minutes left in the game that we will choke away a win. Passing, rebounding, press breaking, and dare I say, set plays. All in the same game. I'm happy for the kids that stayed with the program.

no idea what the win total will end up this year but basketball season is going to be fun for first time in forever

And we pass the eyeball test

I can't tell you the last time we had a team out there that looked like a one but this one certainly does

I agree. We are feasting on a steady diet of cream puffs, for sure. But, it looks and feels different. I can't wait to see how we look v. Miami.

Here's the thing about the cream puffs. Minus DePaul getting too close (and mind you, that game was never going to be lost), we've essentially beaten up on the cream puffs with ease. There have been years when NJIT and Cent Conn State have looked like Kentucky and Duke against us. It's definitely been a positive look so far. Like OP says, we've passed the eye test so far. No matter how Seton Hall goes (game 6), it'll be a fun year.

Last year we'd be 1-3 at best so there's that there.

Easy on the losing streak. Just go with the long season and February could be a telling month for this team.[winking]

You really need to check them out - this may be premature to say, but it's the best team we've had since Waters was here and with their hustle and unselfish play, it's a very fun team to watch.
Good to hear. My history of RU B-Ball dates back to Roy Hinson. My father had season tickets at the Barn and at the RAC (4 rows behind the opponent's bench) until Wenzel, when I started getting season tickets. And I had them until Hill, when the program just became hopeless.

I was going to games when I was 6-7 years old. I would love to get tickets again (perhaps split them with a buddy) and start bringing my daughter (still one season away). Basketball games are great for young kids, easy to get to and shorter length of the game than football.

It's early but to date Johnson has been a more effective PG guard than Sanders.

I wouldn't say it's too early to say we are incredibly improved. Even Ken Pom ratings have us over 100 ranking spots better than last year already. I think we are a borderline top 100 team and we probably get better as the season progresses with all of our young players. I've never seen a Rutgers team rebound this well. I've never seen this amount of depth on a Rutgers team before. The team is playing so much more disciplined than last year. We have a handful of players who can put up 20 point games. Our shooting still isn't great but it's better. We can actually break a press this year and we're doing it very easily.

This team has the opportunity to be a middle of the pack Big Ten team and has the depth, size and talent to pull some upsets.

In all 4 games we had leads of at least 18 points in the second half. That consistency is what gets me excited. And despite bad games by Corey and Freeman, we still won by 13. When the team is firing on all cylinders, watch out what could happen.
