Football Scoop - Staff changes and openings

I am not a Rutgers alum but I am a New Jersey boy through and through. I always rooted for Rutgers and my college didn't have a football team.

Am I not allowed to be a fan? Am I a lesser fan in your eyes? My opinions do not count as much? I and many other "fans" try to support the program. Do other alums feel this way about non-alums?

Wow. Just wow.

Nope! In fact I would say you are the type of fan that Rutgers should be striving to reach out to if we want to build our fanbase to the level of other big state schools....not everyone attended those schools but are fans in part due to state pride among other reasons. As an alum very happy to have you supporting Rutgers!

As an alum, I welcome all non alum fans but I do feel they need to pay monthly royalty fee to alum fans to maintain their fandom status.
Hell no! RU alums should pay us non-alums to be fans. Maybe subsidize our season tickets. Maybe offer to buy us chicken nuggets at the stadium.

At the very least, some compensation is in order for making us sit through that rah, rah, sis boom bah fight song thing.

Compensation my ass, YOU PEOPLE wouldn't even have a team to root for without us alums who paved the roads with our student loans!

By the way, I'm still laughing at the "you people" bit. You non-alumni-ist, you.

I don't know what you do/did for a living, my friend. But if you weren't a comedy writer, you missed your calling. Great stuff.

Rutgers1991..I did as you said and navigated to the page that lists the sports medicine staff.....and guess what David McCune is visibly listed as Director of Athletic Training Serices, Head Football Athletic Trainer.
This is as of 5 minutes ago and only points out how people can occasionally put out misinformation. I also am cognizant as far as times where information and staff directory names etc lag in being updated.

So what is the valid information?

Then I stand corrected as far as Dave being on the list....usually the head guy is at the top of the list. In any event, perhaps Dave will continue to oversee the entire training department and to allow him to focus on that the AD decided to hire a dedicated trainer for football with no additional responsibilities.

91 I think you may be speculating and that's how unfounded rumors start. Perhaps I can obtain a solid answer as I plan to be at the Hale Center today and personally will try to speak with my friend Dave for the real scoop and share if permitted to do so. Of course I know some folks here could care less but when rumors start that include losing one of the key support and medical staff personnel then I think it's an important item.

Recent changes in the past decade or so regarding the importance, liability and role of athletic training staffs has changed greatly and rightly so. This is true both on the intercollegiate and of course professional level. Add in strength and overall conditioning programs as well as an increase in nutrition awareness and we become more awsre that schools are dealing with some factors that have grown in importance. Just in the short time that Ash has been st Rutgers and seeing what Parker is and has been doing is a positive eye opener. GS started things in the right direction in this area with Butler and when he left the replacements and even the commitment was not as solid. Now Rutgers is not only back on track but moving forward in leaps and bounds.
