For all the good Pike has done, I’ll never forgot how he blew this opportunity

Once in a generation recruiting class, with two generational talents and we’re not even going to sniff the ncaa tournament.

An all time fumble. Just so incredibly disappointing
Program may never recover from this!
Who in the position to encourage young talent, would ever encourage a player to come to Rutgers ever again.
This is bad. The sky has fallen!

Pike is not a NIL/Reset the Roster Every Year coach. Current day landscape is not about building programs - it's about recruiting teams that can hit the ground running. Pike is in the Prrogram Builders/Player Development business - not the fantasy draft build a team for a year with 25% less money than everyone else NIL business.

I said this in the game thread. He’ll never be forgiven for blowing this season. Unfortunately his legacy will be the failure of this season.

The Houston game in NCAAs will haunt me forever. Again TERRIBLE coaching and it was clear back then. Would have changed so much.

This year may top that now. People calling this a final four team before games are played 🤦🏻‍♂️

Even worse given that both Ace and Dylan fell to him based on pre existing relationships. The fact that he botched this roster so badly is inexcusable. Last year sucked this year is sucking and next year will be even worse. Yet everyone wants to build this guy a statue. He deserves credit for resurrecting the program, but it has become clear that is all he is capable of

I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after this season tbh
Pike is a nice guy but a hinderance on this program. He needs to step aside gracefully as did Jay Wright and Tony Bennett.
This new era of college basketball does not fit his skills.
Hobbs screwed up big time with that contract extension.
It's hard to walk away from several years of a guaranteed $4+ million annually even if not deserved.

I really want know why everyone thinks this roster was constructed poorly?

Have we done anything as a coaching staff to put these players in a position to succeed? I know most people here have never touched a basketball before but look at our defensive and offensive sets. There is no strategy whatsoever. You bring in a guy like PJ to shoot 3s and no play run for him.

To me our largest issue is not the players and roster…it’s the Gameday coaching of this team

He did his job of taking us out of the basement, and took us to the next level. Unfortunately the rules of the game completely changed. and he does not look up to the challenge. Thank you Pike - but we need to move forward and get someone who can play the game by the rules we have today.

Wont happen for him to walk away…guy had a job for life here essentially as no one holds him accountable.

All press conferences are wash rinse repeat

We have 3, maybe 4 B1G caliber players on this roster. I agree his coaching is non existent, but if you can't see the problems with this roster, God bless you. The reality is both his roster building and coaching suck. Its possible for both to be true at the same time. Pike is mr mediocre

With Rutgers, it’s always something. Some dropped pass, or missed call, or bad bounce. If they won that Houston game!!! And I was dumb enough to think it was the start of many more great moments

I agree that in the NIL world, some coaches might not know how to adapt. This is going to end up being an NIT team.

Agree - this is just as big of a personnel issue, if not bigger than the coaching. We have Ace and Dylan, and I also think Jwill is legit P4......and then what? We have zero impact players, aside from Ace and Dylan - ZERO! We have a bunch of players who could just as easily be playing mid-major or lower. We have no legit forwards on this team (Ace's game is largely like a guard) - that is INSANE on the college level, let a lone a P4 team.

Martini couldn't even make an impact against his old team. But yeah, 40% through the season, his problem is he just hasn't quite found the right match up yet. Got it.

I watch a lot basketball than you do and every team has players like ours. They play their roles. Good coaches find ways to get them to make plays.
We have players but many of them are being wasted without any coaching help

It’s baffling. He let Woolfolk go and replaced him with what? Let’s not forget his recruiting has been abysmal until this year.

I agree our coaching sucks. Not arguing there

I love Pike for what he has done for the program.

But at some point he needs to hold guys accountable. He seems too nice of a guy to do that. Danny Hurley is obviously the other end of the spectrum but something in that direction would be great right now.

Not just GameDay.
