to make them an NCAA lock. Assume they are healthy and playing at their best. For this team, Myles or Mawot. Defense and rebounding.

Who you taking and why?

I'm not that prolific, AI describes why I would pick him:
Caleb McConnell is known for his exceptional defensive skills and versatility on the basketball court. During his time at Rutgers, he earned recognition as one of the top defenders in college basketball, including being named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year twice and being a semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award. His nickname, "The Blanket," underscores his ability to guard multiple positions effectively and disrupt opponents' scoring efforts.

McConnell's leadership and teamwork are also standout attributes. He is praised for his selflessness and dedication to winning, putting the team's success above his own. His commitment to continuous improvement has allowed him to enhance his offensive skills, including better shooting efficiency and increased scoring contributions.

Additionally, McConnell's coachability and poise contribute significantly to team chemistry, making him a valuable player both on and off the court. His hard work and defensive prowess have made him a respected figure in the basketball community.

As much as Caleb would be a great asset to this team as far as position of need I got go with Myles as well

Cliff better than Myles on both ends. As much as we deride Cliff, it’s no comparison.

I think this thread just goes to show how much we’re missing. I’d start with Myles, though

The team is still totally dependent on Bailey and Harper scoring at least 45 points which will be more difficult in future games as opponents double team Harper on every offensive possession. One defensive player isn't enough to change game outcomes.

Glad you clarified this was for fun. Thought we had this power all of a sudden.

That’s silly. One defensive player can absolutely flip some game outcomes. It plausibly could have been enough to flip two or even three of our losses so far.

best player: Ron Harper jr
position need: cliff or Myles

Caleb hands down.

He was a shut down defender game after game and could also board. Two of our most glaring needs.

O and he would have no problem lighting a fire under some of these kids right now. This is badly needed and not happening from Williams or Martini (they need their own fires lit).

caleb or ron. I lean more ron as he'd naturally slide into the 4, can board, stretch the floor, is a big body who boards and was a really good defender.

This is where I'm at, think you have to go Ron for the more well rounded game, but both would be welcome sights

myles johnson hands down if he was within the last 4 years

Am I allowed to say He Who Shall Not Be Named?

Would be pretty nice to have his 3pt shooting as an outlet to help Harper and Ace.

I didn't go there because, while I think he'd be a slight upgrade defensively from Derkack, and a massive shooting upgrade, he wouldn't add to the rebounding and defense near the paint issues. Derkack has also made 4 of his last 11 three's, which isn't terrible and if he could keep up that %, we'd be ecstatic.

One player can’t change the entire defense. We need to outscore people this year. Turns my stomach but if Cam is taking those 3s against KS, Bama and Texas A&M we probably win all 3. He’s the guy I’d pick. Perfect compliment for Dylan and Ace.

Akwasi Yeboah
Surprised Yeboah didn't get more votes. Forward with size, averaged 9.8 pts and 4.8 rebounds per game. I recall him as a really good defender with a number of blocks and steals. Shot 35% from 3. Plus, he played really well in conference play - very consistent with a string of games in double digits.
