DJ is visiting St. Louis this upcoming weekend. I would be surprised if he doesn't commit there with the Van connection.

I think Van Macon recruited him to RU so that would make sense. I wish him well. I think St. Louis would be a good choice for D J.

It will be very interesting watching him to see how much he plays and how he does. He needs to be able to knock down perimeter shots. I can also see him thriving on a team in a lesser conference that features him offensively.

Oddly enough, I wasn't talking about the 20 year old who made a life decision that he and those close to him thought was best for himself.
I wish Foreman the best, but really don't care if he plays well for his new school or if he just takes up bench space.
He isn't a Scarlet Knight and that's the choice he made.

But I will root for D.J. to earn his degree at the school he transfers to.

I wonder if Steve tried to keep hard to keep DJ. By no means a stand out player, but he played hard and had some size and aggressiveness. Seemed like a guy that would improve with a better system and coaching.

for this season are we really going to get a grad transfer that is much better?

Rutgers transfer D.J. Foreman has committed to Saint Louis, source told @CBSSports. Two years of eligibility remaining.

He really loved Van Macon

To me he was a likeable and hard-working kid who, even if he had merely decent hands, could have contributed. Good luck to him.

He was the one player that I think we would have seen the biggest improvement in with this real coaching staff working with him now, but oh well, good luck to him

A-10 is just right for Foreman. He needs to improve on his free throw shooting and good for him he stays with Van Macon in St Louis where I think Travis Ford just became the HC....

I do think that Foreman improved last year. The fact that his numbers were as good against the tougher league competition as against the early-season competition shows improvement. I don't think he had a problem with lateral quickness, he stayed in front of his man pretty well. He did improve on his free-throw shooting, hitting about two thirds once the Big 10 part of the season started.

That said, I happened to run into somebody very close the situation and asked about Foreman. The person I ran into was intentionally cryptic. However, it seemed clear that he was not nearly as upset at the transfer as I was. Based on that, my guess would be that the staff had some issue with him and did not try hard to retain him. I don't have any specifics, but that was the impression that I was left with.

Every starter on this team had inflated stats. When the backups are put in, the stats are no longer accurate. Sanders for exampe. Put up 14 against maryland. Look at Melo Trimbles minutes for that game?13 minutes. Sanders, 37 minutes.

I am not a statician, but we were not going against starters the majority of the time. Therefore, our players stats have to be taken with a slight grain of salt.

Statistics such as shooting percentage, rebounds per minute, free-throw shooting percentage etc. are not that inflated in Big Ten games since Most of the time rotations were not altered that much for us except in the last few minutes.

And we lost Kadeem Jack's offensive touches and minutes in the front court too. Of course his numbers are going to go up.

Starters on the other team played the whole game?

What I am saying is that they are not accurate stats if the other team is not playing its starters. If we were in five point games, every team would be playing its best people 100% of the time. We were never that close.

I know what you are saying Higgins...me personally I didnt feel Foreman was improving...any improvement was so minute that it wasnt going to make a difference. I see him transferring as no big loss except for a body for the year, Pikiell will replace that going forward

I did not say that. Other teams with full rosters had "rotations." I said that the rotations were not really altered until the last few minutes. How many more minutes do you think star power forwards like valentine at Michigan State or Swanigan at Purdue typically played? Knowledgeable people recognized his improvement.

I think he improved, too. I just am saying-looking at our games versus others-starters on other teams played less minutes. Our starters played through the game. The numbers would be different.
