They have us in as a 10 seed, playing Xavier. For what it's worth, Seton Hall is a 6 seed. 9 Teams from the B1G.

It's really too early to say anything, but, it's great press. I love this team; they are so fun to watch. If we beat PSU we will crack the top 25 and then tournament talk can REALLY start.

Great, now let’s go earn our way in. we will be on a knee-jerk roller coaster ride for all of January and February with these predictions.

Decourcy is a Big 10 studio analyst so a little bias there although he is a respected writer from the Sporting News for years. We have to beat Penn State and Illinois on the road on Saturday to get votes and possible crack the top 25. Penn state win alone , which would be huge for us, giving us 3 top tier wins , will not be enough to be ranked.

B1G homer or not, still great press. I mean I don't put stock in these predictions, we need to, as a previous poster said, earn our way in. I believe we can. This is the most exciting RU team since I was a kid (this account is almost 20 years old but I still use it.)

If we can get some wins on the road and win as convincingly as we did @Nebraska, I can see it happening. We've been so good at home, but on the road not so much...Pitt and MSU are tough away games though.

Agreed it is fabulous press. We have not been talked about positively since our 2006 NIT run since we lived through the Rice , Hill and Jordan years, mostly as a laughingstock. You are too young but I was a freshman we went to the Final Four in 75-76. Should have been back in 78-79 and played against Magic Johnson until St John ‘s , who we beat twice during the year and was up by 10 at half, upset us with a tip in near the end of the game. Sellers and Bailey was followed by Hinson and Battle and that 9-10 year stretch we were one of he best teams in the northeast along with Syracuse and St. John’s. I thought it was never going to end then we hired Craig Littlepage( Think hiring Chris Ash) and it died. A couple of NCAA teams in 89-90 and 90-91 and now this 29 year drought. Believe me, I am loving all this positive press and wondering where it has been for 29 long years. So soak it up Young RUfan, it is good for your soul.

Are you my dad? Lol I know you're not but he was a freshmen during the Final Four run. Oh he told me stories, along with my grandfather, all the time when I was a kid! Man I couldn't even imagine. I went to UF since I moved to FL when I was 10 and out of state tuition was just so expensive, and we won two national titles in bball and football when I was there. But it's different. They weren't Rutgers. I half rooted for them.

I bleed scarlet.

We have 2 very good wins, 1 good win, 1 good loss, 1 not bad loss, 1 bad loss. we have played 3 conference games and have 17 left to go.

No doubt bac, it's way too early to say anything, but, it's great to see, especially as someone born in '86 and never really experienced the pinnacle of RU basketball. There's a lot of buzz around the program and I'm loving it.

Definitely a long way to go, but sometimes a fan base needs these crumbs of positivity to get hyped up. A good portion of die hards see the possibilities, but the average fan doesn't. Not yet. Until you get games like PSU which get sold out, thanks to the current hype. Remember, RU is still out on holiday, so a sell out is big.

It would be great to be ranked in the top 25, but getting into the NCAA tourney is more important to me. If we end the season outside the top 25 but high enough to get us in to the dance, I’ll be happy.

yes this.....in fact top 25 is meaningless distraction for the goal this team has.

Let them have some fun BAC. We know it is better to be cautious and wait another month until we should get excited but these newbies are so starved for success , as we are, that they finally have hope and can hold their heads high and brag about their school. It is good for school spirit and good to think something positive is happening at Rutgers. Not just men’s basketball, but women’s, and wrestling and Schiano should have us bowling almost immediately., plus soccer and now softball and lacrosse and so on. It finally feels like it is happening as the purse strings have been opened and the administration is finally acting like an adult in the room. Let’s have fun with the speculation.

Goal this year was to at least be in the NCAA conversation, so have to be pleased so far. You do realize that in these brackets, Rutgers could be playing Oregon in the 2nd round..

Guys as a 33-year-old, do you know how many times I've been able to say we're in the NCAA conversation to this degree? Or have this level of coaching or hype behind a season? Never. My dad was a freshman when RU went to the final four. he grew up when we were great. Thankfully I got to experience football and it seems like we will get there again, but basketball? We've been a joke nearly my entire life.

Let us have a little fun and optimism here. I'm not saying we're a lock and I'm not saying it's not WAY TOO EARLY to be making these predictions. But the fact that people are, and the fact that we are right in the thick of it makes me really excited.

Oh yeah, they have a team that we beat handily (I don't care if they had injuries), Seton Hall, a 6th seed, and us a 10. Pretty funny!

EDIT: And yes I did just assume everyone's gender.
