Fran had a meltdown.

Constantly complaining about officiating is part of the culture there, and it stats with the coach, in my opinion...

My take:
No video or audio of incident will equal no suspension.
However, a fine will be in order based on the witness reports.
The ref will have no problem with the fine over the verbal abuse either - if he wants to keep reffing high level games.

I think he will be suspended for 1 game.

Best of Luck,

I don't know how these things work but if you just ask the Ref he should be able to.say...
"Yea that's what he said".

The B1G can't let this slide without a harsh penalty...Send the strongest possible message to let everyone know it will not be tolerated.

Is there any proof that Fran said what is reported here to the ref?

IMO, Sounds like a guy who knows he said it and was instructed not to discuss it yet...probably until an official statement is released.

Does not seem like a reporter would just make it up....even an Ohio reporter. He would lose all credibility.

Of course, I don't know all of the facts, but all the stories I have seen so far about the alleged incident are based on the tweet of one local OSU writer.
If other media step up and corroborate as eye/ear witnesses, then a suspension likely is in order - in addition to any fine.
No video or audio proof has shown up yet - not even Deadspin...

If he's not suspended for Saturday's game, maybe it pisses off the officiating community and the refs assigned to Saturday's game treat Iowa a little more harshly.

The league also let Jordan Bohannon get away with making wise -ass comments about the officials to the media in a post game presser that weren’t necessary

And while that wasn’t worth more than a warning, that comes from what the head coach does ...which is complain ridic about the officials

I was watching the game. His son got a well deserved T and instead of talking to him about it he doubled down and went after the ref and got his own T. I was surprised because usually you see a coach treat his own kid more harshly than the others not let him off the hook.

Players should be able to criticize officials. Players don't have contracts with the league.

Yeah but is tough in college sports because where do you draw line. Can’t have players just out and out blasting referees in post game interviews.

I didn’t see the game but if the calls were as bad as they were when we played Iowa, I don’t blame him. The refs have been awful at least in our games.

i enjoyed his bratty kid getting a T

absolutely boat raced in second half, was fun to watch

Bohannon only took three shots inside three point line, Wieskamp none, other starting guard Moss only two.

one and done in NCAAs with that offense and sieve defense

so was I. not only that but did you see after his kid's T that he (Fran) actually turned towards the bench and made a wide grin? Kinda laughing about it? Like a proud papa. I did.

Late last night I was texting with someone who watched the game and all he said was "Nah. They got blown out. Officiating was disgraceful, though. It’s even worse in this Indiana game."

His "Nah" was in response to me asking him if Fran was upset about a no-call that caused Bohannon to miss a shot.

Iowa fans think that if ran is suspended it will be a B1G suspension and not one issued by AD Gary Barta.

Barta will probably be asked about Fran today during a press conference where it is officially announced that play-by-play announcer Gary Dolphin will be reinstated beginning with coverage of football spring practice. Dolphin will also return for the 2019-2020 football and men’s basketball seasons. Dolphin was not suspended by Barta he was suspended by Learfield’s Hawkeye Sports Properties.

Yes, he thought it was a big joke. Bad message to be sending to your players. They should be focusing on the game not the refs.

Funny thing was the foul was a good call. He reached in and was moving and got hit in the face because of it. Easy call.

Iowa's problem last night wasn't the "cheating/MF" officials but their defense - or lack of it. They let that Ahrens kid go off for 29 points - his previous high this year was 9 while OSU scored 90 and won by 20. Maybe Fran should look in the mirror for the problems last night

It’s amazing how quickly Iowa has jumped up on the list of obnoxious opposing B1G teams and fan bases.

Will it influence cylinder calls more favorably?
