I have an update on Frank Darby over at NJVarsity.com, which is also available right here.

**Be sure to join the discussion over on the "Garden State Gridiron" aka the NjVarsity.com forum**

I'm a little concerned he didn't commit to RU last week. After 10 straight days of cold, rainy days here in NJ, Arizona's warm sunny days w scantily clad co Eds will be to hard to resist for Darby

ASU because of the weather. I think a good miss.

Yeah, I'm sure it was the weather

Yes, that's an ASU dorm with a pool:

I'll tell you what. My limited experience with Arizona was the Insight Bowl. Based off that, I wouldn't blame any kid for wanting to go to college there. As a parent, I might pay a little more attention to the academic side of things. But you can't deny that would be four really fun years.

This may come off as sour grapes. But if Iowa didn't want to take him before prep school maybe its for the best he didn't end up here. ASU should be more manageable academically.

I don't think Iowa backing off had anything to do with academics, they were not expecting for him to qualify and gave someone else his spot.

2 friends of mine went to ASU but they only managed 2 years and had to transfer. Impossible to get work done.

ASU is like Vegas.. great for a few days, then either you have to calm down or you go off the deep end.

I don't see Darby as a big loss. He obviously has a history of being flakey, and that doesn't jive with the Ash philosophy.

When his biggest reason for selecting ASU or RU is weather - he's not a top target. I'll take the kids that prioritize academics and hard work any day.

Have fun playing for Todd Graham, the mini-king of no ethics.

Funny - I too know two people who went to ASU. Neither of them graduated either.

Had to be something like this.

A) Iowa has taken academic risks on plenty of kids over the years, including several non-qualifiers that they shepherded to various JUCOs and prep schools. Meanwhile, this kid was actually fully qualified and wanted to enroll in the fall.

B) He visited out here for the spring game, was told that the coaches wanted him to get "academically seasoned", whatever the hell that means, a couple of days later 2 players announce transfers out of the program (including one WR who was buried on the depth chart), and then Iowa all of a sudden has a change of heart and starts recruiting him again to enroll this fall.

Thing smelled fishy from the jump. Too bad, because he looks like a player and WR is easily Iowa's weakest position group.

Same here. Friend told me it was the best year of his life but he would have either died or been in rehab. He was actually glad he flunked out.

ASU is comparable to a tropical WVU in terms of academics and atmosphere. Unfortunate loss, liked the kids tape.

hnnggggg I can only imagine being an 18 year old football player at ASU

then again pretty much any school in the PAC-12 is going to have hot girls.

also: I hope I never have a daughter

Kid never wanted to stay in jersey in my book, let's hope he can stay out of the papers for his sake. I think he is making a mistake if all you guys are right about all the party and non graduate stuff and may not have the best advisors in that case.

Lol, had a niece go to ASU. She graduated in 3 years with a 4.0

Something seriously wrong with that child.

So I'm thinking of anyone I can remember from ASU and then I thought of Pat Tilman. That man might have been the most disciplined person to ever walk the earth.
