This post isn't about Penn State. It's about the fact that a coach who appeared to be a good recruiter and a not so good coach was probably going to last a year or two. At least that is what many, including myself, thought. Now look at the same coach. Maybe those who have given up on Chris Ash, and there are more than there should be, should wait for the whole story to be written.

Ash hate isn't fair. Our team was TERRIBLE. I actually went down our roster the other day and most of our players are 3*. A lot of our other players went to Rutgers because they had to because they didn't have P5 or D1 offers. A lot of these kids chose between Rutgers and Old Dominion. They have no business being in the B10.

Anyone who has given up on Ash is a complete moron. I'd take him over Franklin any Day of the week. What a shame he had to follow Kyle Flood and not Bob O'Brian. Flood was way worse than the sanctions. Way worse. He was our own, self inflicted, death penalty.
So u are telling me Ash will be 10-2 in his 3rd year. I will sign up for that.

Not 10-2 in 3rd year with our talent with our B1G schedule as well as games vs Miami and UCLA.

I will be happy if RU gets to 9-3 by year 5 because that is how long it will take to get out of our current disaster.

Well, don't laugh.
Franklin year 1 (2014) Penn State was 7-6, 2-4 in the B1G (barely beating RU).
PSU's 2012 and 2013 classes were #55 and #42 according to Rivals.
2014 is when he started lighting it up with recruiting, pulling in a #25 class.

We have many examples of crap first.second years by other coaches (Rhule 2-10, Fleck 1-11, MacIntrye 2-10 in year 2), but as recruiting improved, so did results.

Look at 2017 as "R" 2014. Using the formula: First solid recruiting class plus 2 years=success, then 2019 will be a solid year for RU. Mark it down. That's year 4 for Ash, not year 3, but I will sign up for that.

I hate that Penn State is successful but Franklin was smart enough to take advantage of recruiting where the coaching was weak. Franklin went after New Jersey and Maryland when their coaches were under fire. This year he went after Ohio recruits that Ohio State didn't want. Franklin is smart recruiting wise and he got lucky with the OC he hired.

I am all for giving ASH the time he needs........
and he as well as others he picked are learning "on the job"
but the coaching staff looks completely lost on the sidelines all too often....
