Fred Hill dead

he Rutgers baseball program and community mourns the loss of Fred Hill, who passed away Saturday at age 84. The Verona, New Jersey, native totaled 1,089 collegiate wins, including 941 in 30 years leading the Scarlet Knights. Hill is a member of American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame.

Great guy, excellent coach, always had the time of day for anyone. Was fortunate enough to work in the athletic department while he coached as well as getting to know him off the field. My dad, and many others, have lost a good friend.

Fred was a wonderful man & coach. He will be missed. I sure hope our baseball team will start playing with the passion that he had for the game. The team should dedicate the season to him.
