Regarding Paul leaving, I’ve been told that he had been on the fence about returning or beginning his professional career since the season ended. The idea of transferring was never an option until Cam left. At that point Paul figured his value was high and decided to cash in.
Regarding why Rutgers hasn’t ponied up, we don’t have unlimited funds (though we’ve been very creative) and the focus is in bringing home the 24 class and switching up the offense to be more enticing to a different type of athlete.
