Much more deserving. Kids break their ass and most only see partial scholorship $ at best. Football team could get their doors blown off to KANSAS for a mere portion of the cash paid for new practice fields, weight rooms, coaching extensions. Pour that cash into wrestling where the kids actually show up and perform and have a team that fans are proud of.

Do you think a comment like that is helpful? May as well give it to the Marching Band.

More money wouldn't increase scholarship amounts, they're mandated at 9.9 equivalent scholarship amounts by the NCAA. Where the money is sorely needed is the SKWC(Scarlet Knight Wrestling Club). This is where money is lacking. Here you can afford better resident athletes(wrestlers who have finished their NCAA careers) which in turn attracts higher rated recruits. With the new practice facility this is the last piece of the puzzle holding us back.

Helpful?? It's too late for helpful we lost 55-14 to Freaking Kansas and we're dogs vs buffalo! Try watching the wrestling team before you compare them to the band.

Hate to break it to you, nobody cares about wrestling. Even when we had bad seasons playing 1AA ball in the ancient stadium we drew crowds bigger than any wrestling match.

It's like arguing with the crew supporters all over again.

Not saying wrestling is near as popular as football

better get your head outta your a$$ RU wrestling is a lot more popular than you think. But you keep watching the band and crew teams.
Btw talking about performance not attendance

RU Wrestling drew 5k average per home match and sold out the RAC vs PSU. They're 4th in the nation in average attendance and only trail old money PSU, Iowa and OSU per match. Believe me, NJ wrestling fans support RU Wrestling as their college team.

A wrassler from NJ I always wanted to get behind!

Every Rutgers athletic program deserves to be supported by the administration and the fans. That goes without saying. I understand HS wrestling is big in New Jersey, got it, get it, but college wrestling is simply not a big time sport any way you cut it. Most schools have dropped their wrestling programs, they are down to about 70 Div 1 schools that still offer wrestling. The SEC and PAC field hardly any teams. It is an Olympic sport and I am glad it has found a niche at Rutgers, but not one dime should be diverted from the football and basketball programs for wrestling, period.
