I thought this was interesting. Because of the proliferation of NIL, the NBA has decided it no longer needs to incur the cost of offering an alternative for 18 year olds who cannot enter the draft until they reach age 19. While these teams were not doing well record wise in the G League which is comprised of grown men, they were producing high draft picks annually for the few years they were in operation. I thought this was a good idea and the right alternative to getting those who were highly skilled and wanted to get paid out of the college game. So know the NBA has reverted back to their cost free method of allowing colleges incur the cost of developing players for their gap year, and with NIL, the college fans are a primary financial contributor as well. Seems like step in the wrong direction but apparently I am in the minority here as is the case with many other recent trends.
