If I’m an NFL GM I’d be very careful drafting Penix. He simply can’t stay healthy.
A couple weeks ago I posted that he was overrated.

Yeah, I was getting strong “Mahomes in the Super Bowl” vibes. You know, where he was literally sobbing with his head on the trainer’s shoulder on the sidelines, then goes out next possession and does the Chiefs “ring around the rosy” BS on his “bum” ankle.
I have a lot more empathy for Penix than for Mahomes though, admittedly. Penix has been through some real injuries to get here.

That didn’t work last year against TCU which wasn’t some highly ranked team in recruiting rankings either.
Michigan definitely was a big bad bully this year winning old school style but I wouldn’t take that as yea that works all the time. As I said above this Michigan isn’t even the same as the last two. It’s been honed over three years and two prior playoff appearances.
More what I take from these playoffs is what I’ve been saying when people have brought up worries about portal NIL etc…opportunity has expanded from the top on down.
I posted some articles which mention the talent composite of teams by their recruiting rankings etc on 247. Michigan was 15 which is good but I believe the first team outside the top 10 to win it and usually it’s not even outside the top 5 except for Clemson once at 8 I think. Washington was 26. TCU was 50 something last year iirc. So you’re seeing teams not have elite recruiting rankings achieve high goals. Opportunity is as good as it’s ever been, maybe even more than I was thinking.
no idea how UW won the award for best OL, they were way outmatched. Michigan had the most physical OL in the country.
For me, the main thing is that Michigan had 7 All-B1G OL.
They are one of the few teams that are a lock on goal.
The RB is good not great, and the QB is mediocre.
That OL is legendary though
I always check RU OL recruiting before all the rest.
OL allows for running, passing, clock control and they punish defenders who can be on their knees by the 4th.
RU should try to become "OL U" as far as OL go.

udub oline reminded me of detroits with sanders. they are not road graders but will tie you up however, absolutely not the best in the country by any stretch. We saw this with Texas too

If I'm a pro team, I'd take Penix in a heartbeat. I think he's the 2024 version of Warren Moon - accurate (especially on deep balls), quick release, mobile. And the dude is tough; my guess is he played with cracked ribs most of the fourth quarter. I think he's gonna be the best QB that comes out of this year's draft.

I think arm talent and accuracy wise he's good but I'd be worried if he'd get hurt cause of his injury history in college. Probably worth a lower round pick but I don't know about a high one.
I do feel like he looks better trying to avoid and not take the big hits though, maybe not last night but in general.
Strongly disagree. I don't think he has a quick release, his throwing motion and mechanics are awful, and people keep saying he was beat up but I didn't see him step into a throw or take a hit to make a throw the entire night. Plus he's small and apparently easily inured. Huge pass.
Tough crowd here. Penix has been good all year. He had a tough game against the top D and his OL didn’t block anyone. As someone else said he probably had cracked ribs. Guy could barely stand up. He also had no run game since the #1 RB was hurt. How does Washington make it to the finals without a true #2 RB.
