Can't wait to see him light up the RAC. He's so so good
So exciting.Unlimited range with his size. Effortless jumper
Gavin shoots some dart passes too. Defender are going to have to fly out at him and he will be able to easily pump and take it to the lane and with his height it'll be even easier to throw it up to Cliff if the help comesSo exciting.
Some great examples of attacking closeouts there and you can imagine him and Cliff on PNR are going to be something to watch. Creates his own shot a few times too, including some shoulder work to create space.
That's from last spring/summer's EYBL against some high-ranked guys.
Not sure if it was in the highlights posted, but he's deadly on pick and pops and fades - something about that movement into his shot really seems to lock in his release - I hope Pike and seen it or maybe he tells Pike - Gavin setting ball screens for Noah or Simpson will be deadly for getting GG 3's/attacking the paint and getting those two guys going downhill or getting shots.Fernandes should feast (points and assists) on the dribble drive with the space GG will create.
Young guy is absolutely deadly from long range. -And with his quick release and body control he's gonna be an absolute load to try to defend.
He's got all the tools to be something very special for RU and I can't wait to see him in action in Scarlet.
Scary to think that GG might wind up being a Klay Thompson-like player. Klay might be an NBA Hall of Famer just based on scoring with both efficiency and volume…and winning. Not sure if it was in the highlights posted, but he's deadly on pick and pops and fades - something about that movement into his shot really seems to lock in his release - I hope Pike and seen it or maybe he tells Pike - Gavin setting ball screens for Noah or Simpson will be deadly for getting GG 3's/attacking the paint and getting those two guys going downhill or getting shots.
The Warriors used to do it a ton with Klay Thompson, and OKC with Durant - he'd go to set a ball screen as as soon as his man helped, he's popping to space for the shot or attacking the paint.
This would be MUCH more effective late in the shot clock than Cliff coming out to set a high ball screen - which was what we seemed to do last season as if it were the only play in the book. And it's not just high-middle, ball screens on the wings too.
Yup - completely changes the other team's game planning on D - more real estate to defend - gotta find him every time in transition and he might be 2 steps outside of the line and many other situations where you can't defend him like most guys. This is a player where you throw the stats on shooting percentages out the window.....his range is 5 to 7 feet beyond the college 3 point line. You want Griffiths taking 15+ shots per game and at least 8 of those 15+ shots from 3 if possible.
Great point and illustration of of why watching actual games is more revealing than just stat sheets.Yup - completely changes the other team's game planning on D - more real estate to defend - gotta find him every time in transition and he might be 2 steps outside of the line and many other situations where you can't defend him like most guys.
He's going to string 2-3-4 of those shots together and whatever holds the roof down on the RAC is going to be tested.
The RAC is going to explode when he has a hot game where he nails multiple 3's and bombs one from deeeeeepYup - completely changes the other team's game planning on D - more real estate to defend - gotta find him every time in transition and he might be 2 steps outside of the line and many other situations where you can't defend him like most guys.

This is also why we’re going to miss Cam. He would have been a tremendous floor spreader for us. Between Cam, Fernandes, and Gavin we would have been a major problem on the perimeter, which would have really opened things up for Cliff. This is a player where you throw the stats on shooting percentages out the window.....his range is 5 to 7 feet beyond the college 3 point line.
